    I have used the paper towels under the eggs in the past and I think it obstructs the air flow especially when the paper towels get wet. I have eggs on lockdown now without the paper towels. I removed the egg turner. I raised the wire rack to keep the eggs in the same temperature zone and placed...

    Cliff, I'm sorry the hawk got the little hen. We have a hawk also and last summer we lost a lot of ducklings to the hawk. :( Sad, but we must go on. God bless you and your flock.

    Have you lost any birds from your flock? I've learned, it's better to stay ahead of the predator. This month I have caught a bobcat and an opossum. But I didn't get these predators until after I lost some hens to their attack.

    CliffB, are those red sex link chicks? Wow, the darker chick is feathering much faster? I didn't realize the difference in feathering to be so prominent. Thanks for the tip.

    I lost two hens to a bobcat today. But I caught it in my trap. :(. I hope it does not have a mate to come for more hens.
