We actually only had one hatch so I may go get a friend for it this weekend, I wouldn't want to introduce a lone chicken into our flock

    Thanks for giving me the idea about the turner motor, after I salt calibrated my thermo/hygrometers, I set up the baton empty and placed one thermo in either end, sure enough it was warmer by 1.5 degree on the turner motor side, I switched thermometers and got the same result..next hatch I will...

    I think the dark you are talking about is a wing and the yellow were thick clumps of yolk, I gave the other 2 one more night and will open today..kinda putting it off as we got snow so I can't bury them ☹️

    I had 6 local eggs set to hatch on Friday, 2 died early on, and 4 made it to lock down, 1 hatched Thursday and I saw doing great. I decided to do an eggtopsy on one of the remaining eggs because I could no longer see an air sac..this is what I found
