Went from getting three eggs a day down to zero from 12 girls . I really do not want to add any extra lighting so I guess they will be freeloaders until Spring. But they are worth it in the long run. And by Spring my Muscovy trio should be ready to earn their keep too.
For those with rat problems have you tried a rat satire ? Supposedly it works better if it is an original composition. For those who are not familiar with this it comes from the show Outlander.
Been trying to catch up with all the posts. Guess that will teach me to be away from this forum for more than a few days.
Anyway is anyone interested in some Buckeye pullets? They are about 25 weeks old. I have three available. I also have a trio of Icelandics plus an extra roo looking for a...
How did I end up with four brooders going at the same time? I have five Khaki Campbells in the big brooder. They are ready to go outside but will have to wait for a couple weeks until I finish with the coop revamp. Then I have five Buckeye pullets who are about a month old in another brooder...
You picked the right place for friendly people with lots of chicken knowledge.
My advice is get a coop that is at least two or three times the size of what you think you need. From what I have seen the prefab ones are way too small unless you want only two or three birds. And no one I know is...
Are you talking about a fence to keep the dog contained? Or one to protect the chickens? In either case Great Pyrenees are not the best candidates for respecting electric fences. Their desire to roam their territory is too strong. And what they consider their territory is about the same as...
I was thinking at least six or so. More would be nice but I don't want to be greedy. They would be the only eggs in the incubator so there would be plenty of room.
Very proud of myself. Went to two different TSC over the weekend and all I ended up with was some goat mineral. Not that either one had a great chick selection. Bantams, Isa Brown, RIR, something else and some Pekin ducklings were what they had. And very few of each.
I don't think so. If so it has been a few years since I haven't had an SUV for over three years. Currently I have a Sierra and a bright green Chevy Spark. The truck is great for the farm stuff and the car is great for commuting. Even with cheap gas prices I love the 40 mpg I get with the car.
I'm not worried about them being mixed. I just like the heritage breeds since they do so much better than the broad breasted turkeys. Unfortunately I have never had luck with hatching out poults. It never fails when I really want a successful hatch it fails miserably. Yet when I do a test hatch...
Anyone have, or will have, some Turkey poults? Looking for any of the heritage breeds. My beautiful Royal Palm tom was killed by something yesterday. Found him in the goat pen with his throat ripped open. No tracks of a predator. And unless the goats are zombies I doubt they killed him. The hen...
There is an Acker's Acres in New Gloucester. She has German and German/French Angoras. Email is [email protected]. Not sure if this is who you mean.
Congrats on the Pyr. I have had three and foster for Big Fluffy Dog Rescue which was started as Pyr rescue. We now take in other breeds but...
I'm ordering from Cackle and they require 5 of each breed. I do like the Bramhas. And EE are always nice. I have a nice looking EE too right now. No experience with the Jersey Giants. I am ordering Salmon Faverolles and Welsummers along with some Silkies. You can also order from Longhorn. They...
