My first layer was an EE, 3 days shy of 21 weeks. The rest took a bit to catch up, but my second layer was my other EE, at about 23 weeks. I still have the second. She lays pretty, large sky-blue eggs.
Can't wait to see what the 2 new babies lay. They both look like my Little Hawk did when she...
I spent my younger years in El Cajon and Santee, then it was La Mesa and PB lol
Definitely prefer PB. I still have family in El Cajon, La Mesa, and Temecula :)
If it wasn't so expensive, I'd be out there too!
I'm by Dallas. I've barely been here a year. It gets pretty hot, but it's generally not as miserable as Houston
The best weather I've been in is in San Diego..lived there for a few years when I was younger.
Oh no...I am so sorry. That's always so tough...
Thanks!
Me too! Out of my 8 new chicks, the only breed that doesnt have the beard/muffs are the Australorps lol
So pretty! Congrats!!
Here are my EE twins lol
Cwen and Chloe, from Ideal.
Had/Have 2 from Meyer.
The one in my little picture laid a pale moss green.
This lady lays a larger sky blue
Looks greenish in the picture but in person it was a bright blue :)
Excuse her dirty beak, it was worm day...lol
I didn't have time to catch up on those 50 posts!
But since this is a bragging thread..
2 new EE babies will arrive on Thursday!!
(along with a few other chicks)
True....
If they're the only chicks, you might be able to pull it off.
I ordered chicks and made the mistake of including 3 Mille Fluer D'Uccles with my LF.
Only one made the trip, and only by a few hours.
I lost may favorite EE girl (Pearl) this weekend :(
The feed store is getting a batch of "Americanas" () in on Thursday...
Would it be too late in the year to add a few more?
I'm down to one EE now and, other than the fact that I feel like I need more babies to love, My egg basket is decidedly...
No, I don't believe Houdans have a vault. Vaults can be a pro or a con, depending on preference
I don't plan on showing my Silkie, I got her for (hopefully) her broodiness and as more of a pet for my daughter. So I chose one with a non-vaulted skull, because she was going to come into the...
ok so i took a closer look and it does have red in its feathers. .. I always thought it was dirty!
hmmmm...I'd watch that red..if it falls into a pattern there may be hope, but red splotches nearly always point to a roo.
There have been a few reddish pullets, but they usually seem to have some...
Fingers crossed! Mine's not even 6 months. Can't wait to see if she ends up looking like that.
B&Ws are always tricky...I only see one row of peas on the comb...
Is the comb brighter than the others?
I kind of want to say pullet..based on what I can see.
Any red feathers poking through on the...
They're lovely!
How old is the first girl?
She looks a lot like one of mine. I'm wondering if she'll get more salmon on her...
I don't see anything screaming roo in the last ones. How old is he/she again?
Maybe a side/profile picture would help?
IT's so hard to tell! I researched and guessed for weeks...
The one I had that looked just like that ended up a roo. But his "sister" (same color, just with chipmunk striping instead of spots) ended up a pretty cream/gray/salmon pullet.
Not saying you have a roo at all, just saying it's a HUGE...
