Hey y'all. Sorry I've been gone but it's deer season. But during my absence I've attempted to do good by poultry. The other morning I had just walked to the house from a morning hunt on the property, had taken my boots and jacket off, unloaded my rifle and had set down to enjoy a cup of...

I got a reply today from someone at Washington Farmers Coop, when I got up and checked my email. Quote: I wrote back and told them I would bring the bad sack back in tomorrow when I get up off of night shift. Hopefully they will clean their act up and it will benefit every one in the...

I was a Southern States Coop store manager in Mebane NC for 5 years from 86 to 91. If one of our feed mills was cranking out crap like I've seen in this sack, I would have drove to Durham and throttled the Feed Mill manager for the lack of any quality control. You are only as good as the...

I am Peed-Oed at Tennessee Farmer Coop over feed quaility. I thought I would give them a shot at layer pellets. The 1st sack that I fed out was good and they laid well on it. The 2nd sack is 1/3 fines. It doesn't do well in my 10 pound feeder and the hens don't like fines. Fines=dust...

Sorry I haven't been on here all week. Joy and I flew out to Southern Calif, to see the grand baby. My son is stationed at Camp Pendleton. Hopefully I can catch up on all I missed while I was gone. It is good to see green grass and trees again with out the aid of irrigation.

We used it inside a deer camp "cabin" ( my wife Joy called it a shack) and it worked well for us. The only thing that I may watch out for is direct strong winds. In that case I would cover the blue board with some type of plywood or more a sturdy material.

You could cover it with blue board insultation at not much cost. It would cut the wind, provide some insulation affect, it would be easy to put up and take down in the spring. And you can cut it with a pocket knife. It comes in 4x8 sheets.

I was thinking along the same lines on size. 1 dozen for $3.00 2 dozen for $5.00 Just didn't want to get out of line with what the going market price was.

Does anyone on here sell fresh eggs? If so what is the going price in your area? I have several people wanting to purchase and I need to come up with a fair price. Fair to them and to me.

Well folks, I just about have my 8x8 coop done. I still have the roof to put on and build the run. I plan on fencing in about 600 sq/ft with 2x4x72 welded dog lot wire and salt treated 8 foot post. The total bill at today's cost is going to be around $1200. My in-laws have given me and...

Right here around my home we had a late freeze that killed about all the Yellow Pouplar and Black Locust Bloom. That makes up the bulk of my honey production. The good thing is about all they have had to work has been white clover, which has bloomed all summer long, except for that dry...

I did a little advertising and merchandising of my farm products this past week. We had a breakfast/supper at work on our night shift, this past Labor Day. We fried up 4 dozen eggs, which my pullets supplied. 4 pounds of homeground country sausage and 10 pounds of bacon. I also brought...

I guess the wild song birds bring the lice to the flock if you never bring out side stock in. Some of the cardinals around here have head mites in the summer. They loose all the feathers on their heads. Is this a problem with barn yard poultry? Do I need to quit feeding song birds during...
