Hooray! I always want to know if my guesses hit the mark. Is that the picture of #2? As for the olive green egg, you know how they say, if there is no picture, it didn't happen.
You definitely gave away a boy. 3 row comb + dark red on wings = boy. As for 3 row comb females, I only recall one or two that I saw in this whole lengthy thread. Also, the chicken that abserbean posted right above your post has 3 rows, and I believe it is a girl, not 100% sure though. It...
This one is a hard one. It has the body of a hen but the rooster's comb. Usually, most cockerels by 8 weeks would have some dark patches on their wings already. This one seems to have even pattern without dark patches. So, I am going to vote hen. Please update once you know for sure. I am...
I saw those same paint brushes in picture 3 on my boys at the same age. Your chick however has very light comb. I am leaning toward roo, but hope I am wrong. Please update when you know for sure.
Be patient. You WILL get eggs from both of them. My pullets started laying between 6-7 months, and one was even later than that. Yes, very late compared to some others. Do post pics of their first eggs for us to see. Hope you get pretty green or blue.
Good luck finding him a home. I had a tough time last year because there were so many unwanted roosters toward the end of summer. I know some of mine went to a new home to be raised for food.
So sorry about the coyote attack. And also sorry to say the first 3 chicks all look like boys to me. Hope you get eggs from the pullet in the last pic soon.
How old is speckle? The older it is, the more likely it's a girl. Right now, it's a very boyish girl. I did have a girl that had very thick legs like Speckle with very similar colors and feather pattern. The difference is Speckle has an eagle face which I see more often in boys. Anyhow, my bet...
I copied the above diagram some from one else in another forum.
@crazyhen - The pointy feathers that you're asking about take more time to grow out and grow long. However, the blue cockerel in the picture already has the curvy sickle feathers at the tail end, just not long enough to drape...
