Nice setup! Beautiful pullets too, buff orps are one of my favorite breeds cause of the good laying while also being very friendly.
The only thing I would suggest is to put a solid roof if it doesn't have one, if there's just fencing and it rains allot the pen will get muddy and start smelling sour.

Probably, I've never seen ticks on my chickens but I know wild turkeys and grouse can get them. Ticks usually just stay on the face (on turkeys and grouse anyway), I imagine if a chicken got one the other chickens would just eat it .

I use pine shavings or hay... I do not recommend hay, it gets super compacted and almost impossible to clean out. Pine shavings are OK, but get stinky. Soon I will be trying the "deep litter method" to see how that works. So I don't really have any advise except don't use hay
