I built them an A frame about 4m long with a separate roost...they slept there (on the floor) till they began to lay then they just quit sleeing...

My wyandotte began laying just four weeks ago. First to start were the youngies I hatched myself late last Autumn. The older hens followed soon after. At the start of laying they were still separated. Once laying started I decided to integrate the newbies. At first they just sat on the ground...

Copper Sulphate can build up and poison. Horses need it in Aust due to too much fertilizer used on our grass but it MUST be balanced with good calcite from Commetcial Minerals. The calcite eables the digestive system to get rid of the copper. When I got troubled horses to fix first thing I did...

I sprouted free range mix quite easily Cut the bottom section off a large coke or similar plastic fill with mixed seed and soak for half a day. Never heard an old wives tale with that sort of content......and I took it as an unwarranted "age" put down, uncheracteristic of this thread. One of the criteria I applied in selecting the breed was its reputation for tolerating cold weather. From day one they have quit laying early May and...

In a word GREED, humanity imposes itself on the environment not the other way around, eventually we the little people(self supporting) have to protect our small domestic production from virus, spores and resistant pests created where? in commercial operations, and then pay more for bought goods...

I am thinking that sour crop MAY have been my issue..........my thoughts on treatment went to part of the process outlined in this excellent link, I had the idea that flooding and massage would allow her to spew up the offending tucker, sadly I was unable to make the time to follow my instinct...
