BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

We've had very good luck roasting aged birds that way. Even 2 to 4 year old fowl turn out fine and the older birds exude the old time flavor that can't be faked in the 7 to 10 week old birds from chain markets. I've tried them and they remind me of Tofu C hicken....Blaaaaah!!! Turk tells me...

BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

We turned on the water misters today at 85*F but that was totally uncalled for. By 6 PM, the temps dropped and the worst thunderstorms came down for about 2 hours...worse than I've seen for a while. Fortunately the generator kicked in to keep all the freezers etc running. Power doesn't go off...

BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

I worked for many wears in areas of the world where it got hotter than the hinges of hell, frequently carrying packs that weighed more than I'll say because the average civilian would think it a lie. That was work and I did it but I don't think I could live like that ever again. I don't...

It's a little native brookie....illegal under 6 inches and that WAS under the size limit. They say they saw a few larger ones dart from place to place but if they say the trout, the trout also saw them....The larger ones don't get that way by ignoring what they see. Worse wet...Ariel wants to...

BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

Matty and Ariel went fishing this morning for this evening's meal. Since we have no decent leftovers, I'm headed to a freezer, right now.

Should work out fine with the bird being mildly brined for 4 days and slow roasted...at 250*/275*...my opinion, covered then browned, uncovered for 20 minutes at about 375*.. I will be interested in seeing the results. J.

Bee, I know you are an expert with broody hens. We had Angel in isolation in the summer kitchen when she went broody so not much happened that went unseen. I only know of three times that she left the nest during the entire period for feed and water. I feared she would die of thirst if not...

We finally have a litter of 11 pups....3/4 Caucasian Ovcharka. I know a pup has been promised to one of dad's special friends and also a couple were spoken for by others as well but I can't find who they were. The pups are 2 days old and I think there are 7 or 8 females, two of which will stay...

Thanks all for understanding. considering what others are facing, with the exception of a little constant rain showers, the weather is almost perfect.....down right cool. J.

I didn't mean to offend anyone. Dad is back in the hospital on a ventilator. I guess the pressure has made me a bit harsh. I'm sorry. J. ETA...I will stay off this thread and likely the forum.

BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

Something horrendous is happening here. If dad were to be strong enough to get on the net, seeing the thread down would bother him. Seeing him further upset would really bother me and add to our difficulty. But as I mentioned, it's not likely dad will ever use the net again...

BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

I'm glad dad doesn't show any interest in seeing anything on BYC, specifically this thread. I don't care if it self-destructs but seeing it dead would further depress the old man. I don't have time to mess with it or I would try to breath new life into it. Again, it's just not worth it to me...

If I lived in a spot like yours, I wouldn't have any breed but naked necks. sorry.

BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

X4 I don't see anything unattractive about NNs. They have far more to recommend them than anything their essentially featherless necks might detract according to some. Much easier to process than most other breeds and the NNs, when penned and finished properly, are as good as any and better...

Not sure if this means anything to any of us. On May 19, 2016, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and the Santa Cruz Biotechnology, Inc. entered into a settlement agreement, otherwise known as a consent decision, to resolve alleged...

BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

Another surprise to me. There's been a 'chick-napping'. A Chantecler hen stole two chantecler chicks from a DC brood hen yesterday. I didn't mention it earlier because I wasn't sure it was going to stick. The DC has a mix of pure Chant. chicks and mostly DC/chant. hybrids, totaling 9 from...

I don't know how soon or even if dad (Hellbender) will be back on line but I will be picking him up from the hospital on Wednesday, provided everything continues as now. We appreciate all the good wishes and good will expressed, both on the threads and by PM...

BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

Dad asked me to use his 'space'. I think he might fear being forgotten but I told him....no one forgets him, for good or ill. I surely wouldn't change his handle. And who knows, I might already be registered. Perhaps I might start arguing with myself until dad gets back...

Thanks for the Guardian Angels. Mom has been gone for many years now. Jason ETA: I'm thinking of putting up an avatar of my own until dad gets back...any objections?
