Doing well! One chick is out and was raising hell chirping all night long. It looks like a dark blue to me, or maybe black. The other has zipped about halfway and I think will be out soon!
That's so exciting that everyone is developing! Congrats on your first hatch. I just candle once on day 11 and then everyone doing well then goes into lockdown! That's assuming none of the eggs start to stink. Many people here are much more hands-on though, candling each day to check the air...
My two lonesome ameraucana eggs have both pipped! I wasn't dreaming when I heard little chirps last night.
Cross your fingers they both hatch successfully. Every chick needs a buddy and I don't want to be visiting Atwood's anytime soon.
My picture's not very clear so I marked the pips.
I just had a successful hatch from the same breeding pair last month so it's hard to say. They are definitely aging at 3 or 4 years old (don't have my notebook on hand)
I candled my seven ameraucana eggs on day 11 and was shocked to find only 2/7 developing! I have never had this happen before. At most I usually have 1-2 clears.
I hope they both hatch so I don't end up with a lone chick. My plan was not to set any more ameraucana eggs this year and move on...
Coming on over from the March Hatch-a-long. I'm working from home now, possibly through May, so why not? I set another batch of ameraucana eggs this afternoon, so they'll be due April 13. Slightly disappointed to miss the EHAL but my ameraucana hen took her sweet time laying these seven eggs.
