    you could put the water on the plate and put a few rocks in it. Chicks can be silly sometimes I’d worry more about them falling in and not being able to get out.

    Heat lamp is very low. Have you checked temp under it? Could singe your paper towels..... also what’s on the checkered plate in the glass dish?

    Yeah the vaulted skulls hatch mate was glued in and had unabsorbed yolk. He was a hot mess the first 3 weeks of life.

    Mine is fine. I’ve not had any problems with her since she hatched in June. She lives with other bantams and 2 large breed birds. They “could” get brain damage while young since it’s soft. I’ve heard it hardens a bit over time. ok. Keep the lid shut. You don’t need to moisten the membrane...

    What’s your humidity? You could shrink wrap them by opening the lid too much. I wouldn’t open it again until the others hatch and you can get dry chicks out.

    Try not to assist if you can. You may get them out too early before the yolk has absorbed. As long as they are making progress within 24 hrs after they pip don’t help. Here is my vaulted skull silkie.
