When I had Crunchy isolated because of unabsorbed yolk I had a small lid for wet food and a rodent dish with rocks for water (you gotta improvise sometimes) He didn’t need much since he was by himself. I was worried he wouldn’t make it. My chicks in the brooder always got the general chick...
you could put the water on the plate and put a few rocks in it. Chicks can be silly sometimes I’d worry more about them falling in and not being able to get out.
Mine is fine. I’ve not had any problems with her since she hatched in June. She lives with other bantams and 2 large breed birds.
They “could” get brain damage while young since it’s soft. I’ve heard it hardens a bit over time.
ok. Keep the lid shut. You don’t need to moisten the membrane...
What’s your humidity? You could shrink wrap them by opening the lid too much. I wouldn’t open it again until the others hatch and you can get dry chicks out.
Try not to assist if you can. You may get them out too early before the yolk has absorbed. As long as they are making progress within 24 hrs after they pip don’t help.
Here is my vaulted skull silkie.
