While I have not quite tried coloring easter eggs AT the chicken yet :P, coloring each chicken a different color lets you see who laid the egg by what color the designs on the egg are. I will say though that the day I ever DO get a multi colored egg, will have been a VERY interesting day in...
2 for 3 but they all spend time in the box and rufffle eggs around, but only get 2 a day from 3 birds. Not sure if one is just punting every few days or what, but one egg every so often is very light in color. Tempted to get the food coloring and play the mystical color butt game to see...
I got one who is probably pushing 5 years. She was doing really well, until this last winter, when she took a break with the other girls. Now the rest of them are back to laying, her, umm no.
Im hoping she comes around in the next few weeks here now that spring is in full run, weather is...

Hmm that's odd because most the time when I clean the coop they are not stressed, in fact often getting swatted to get out of the way and stop picking through what I just dug through :P Even if one or so is laying, they for the most part ignore me, which is good I'm thinking.

Oh thats funny. When I was a teenager I spent a few summers at my Aunt's house in Miami. They have those domesticated? Muscovy Ducks, the ugly red / black / white / you name it colored ones. Mamma was sitting on her nest, and Id go out every day and feed her and bring her a bowl of fresh...
So far, I think......I have been lucky and there are no secret nests. I sure don't want to find one the hard way when one day, about mid april when the windows are open, and around 10 pm this aroma of parfoom de rotten egg comes wafting through the house...

Thats almost as good as putting 2 eggs in your coat pocket, feeding the girls then hopping in the car to goto work. Getting there, being told, meeting in a few minutes, goto meeting, get hot, take OFF jacket and put it on seat and lean back on it. About 5 minutes later, what the HELL is that...
Can you throw some straw or something at the bottom of the ramp so when the egg goes clunk it does not crack or is it getting trashed on the step.. lumps?? Or maybe put some straw on the steps to soften the kabump bump on the way down?
