What is this? Worms inside egg?

I don't have Aquasol and can't afford this kind of dosage. I've got a small 10mL bottle coming, but now regret wasting that money. I already have 2 bottles of Safe-Guard for Goats, so I'm reluctant to buy any of the other products recommended in this thread, at least until I've given the...

What is this? Worms inside egg?

I just want to get this right, not just for me, but for everyone else who is and will be viewing this thread. Mistakes can be deadly. I see your point. I was viewing the "mg" as a measure of the solution, not as a measure of the drug contained in the solution. It was confusing me. Regardless...

I don't understand, but that's okay. I believe you! Would that be a daily dose, for each of five days?!?!?

What is this? Worms inside egg?

Oh, and regarding the warning that fenbendazole should not be administered during molt, as it can cause deformed feathers ..... I'll take my chances. I keep heat in the coop during the worst winter weather, so they won't suffer.

What is this? Worms inside egg?

I did not contact the vet today, realizing finally (duh) he's not going to tell me any different dosage due to the limitations of his license. But you and @casportpony gave me this (below): And @DobieLover, thank you for alerting me to a possible math mistake. It made me triple-check my...

What is this? Worms inside egg?

I gave about 3/4 mL in about 2-1/2 gallons of water, split between two waterers. They did not drink all of it yesterday, and I worry about it settling to the bottom. I have about 250 lbs or 113 kg of birds, X .005 mL per kg= about .57 mL total.

What is this? Worms inside egg?

I don't know yet. Against the better judgement of BYC experts here, but following my vet's advice, I gave my chickens their 2nd dose of 5-7 doses of Safe-Guard for Goats in their water this morning. Further treatment is pending my conversation with the vet later today, or with the Univ of...

What is this? Worms inside egg?

MY advice now to anyone else who finds this thread and considers treating their chickens in the drinking water: DON'T. Please, just use whichever wormer of choice or recommended by your vet, for treating each bird individually. I have (at last count) 76 chickens and chicks. I would rather spend...

What is this? Worms inside egg?

What an education I'm getting! I think at this point, I'm on overload. I could have dosed all of my birds individually, twice, for the amount of time and brain cells I've expended studying the problem. Not to mention all the time and effort by everyone else here, trying to convince me.

What is this? Worms inside egg?

Oh my, is it ever expensive! I did not discover it in my searches, except on Amazon (ridiculously expensive for a backyard chicken keeper). Comes in a 1-gal jug, which I would not use in a lifetime - but there would be demand in big commercial operations. I did order a small amount tonight from...

What is this? Worms inside egg?

I think the fog is lifting for me. I did NOT realize that "Aquasol" is actually made under the Safe-Guard brand label. I doubt this is exactly what the vet recommended, because he said I could pick it up at the local farm stores. Safe-Guard for Goats, yes. "Aquasol" - not so much. I finally...

What is this? Worms inside egg?

Maybe a miscommunication, then? When I saw the vet, I did not know about Safe-Guard Aquasol, only Safeguard for Goats. I don't think he specified, or if he did, I missed it. Definitely a phone call to the vet tomorrow to verify! Thank you.

What is this? Worms inside egg?

I'm not letting them out during this treatment - not just to restrict their water source, but also to restrict exposure to anything new. I think I will go ahead and buy one or both of the other products suggested, and have them on hand if this doesn't work out.

What is this? Worms inside egg?

Why didn't my vet tell me this? He's an avian vet, in an area with substantial chicken populations. Told me he confers regularly with contacts at the Missouri Dept of Agriculture and University of Missouri, and reached out to (one of them) to confirm his plan of treatment and dosage for not only...

What is this? Worms inside egg?

@Wyorp Rock @dawg53 Thank you for your advice. Very much 🤝 I'm doing what the vet recommended, and will get them tested again in a couple of weeks, to see how effective it is. I will discuss with him about Levamisol and Aquasol at that time, and whether or not the Safeguard worked as dosed. I...

What is this? Worms inside egg?

Hey everyone, I had the conversion wrong! A member on Facebook found my mistake. I have corrected it in my update. .005 mL per KG of weight is correct. But 1 kg = 2.2 lbs, not the other way around

Please edit your post to remove my quote - and check your bookmark. I had the conversion wrong! 1 kg = 2.2 lbs, not the other way around. It has been corrected in my post, but the wrong calculation still shows in those who copied it in their posts that followed.
