Sounds about right?!?!? I've read that a bunch of times. Some people are still struggling with it aren't they ;)

If you are going to alter a pic, you can at least make it close. I spend a great deal of time in KY (remember.....I have gamecocks also ;) ). I'm very much familiar with state. If memory serves me right, I did ask you which shows you planned on attending and you never replied. As far as the ON...

Gotta love "smart" phones and their autocorrect feature?!?! Yes, I meant molt. Actually my mature stock are finishing their molt in Feb. That is why I prefer shows in March, April, and May. The mature cocks are at their best feather during the months, IMO....but is just me. I wasn't poking at...

Regarding the bird that was in the snow. My guess is that bird just mounted her feathers in and therefore they aren't old enough to be faded and there they should be darker especially against a white background. If they wasn't you are probably doing something wrong?!?!

Or maybe the under color really does matter because it helps prevent sun bleaching or fading I the buckeye breed. Who knows?!?!

Back to that previous question you asked Laura. You make such a big deal about the current standard, I was just curious how it has changed over the years. That being stated, I was just making sure that the older versions actually can still apply. As far as "magical" birds that never fade; That...

What are the differences in the current sop from when the breed was first recognized?

You think?!?!?!?! I wasn't refering to the judges rather than the people who breed them. Even at that; I've talked to so many of them that say the difference in color between the RIR and the buckeye is very little. That is how they choose to interpet it. One more time for the sake of being...

my index finger touching (just touching) his beak hardly constitutes me " stretching it's neck up like a stove pipe", I just mearly stood the bird up because he was wanting scratch. This kind of thing is done ALL of the time especially when judging OE and moderns bantam/standard alike. I've...

I have a few buckeye hens that have spurs. For buckeyes it's pretty rare but for game birds nearly all of my hens have spurs. There is game blood somewhere in the make-up of the breed so it makes sense.

A buckeye was on champion row again at this show. The buckeye cock in the open made Reserve Champion American which makes a buckeye on champion row 3 out of the last 4 shows in Lucasville. That's a pretty good run. There were more buckeyes shown than any other breed in the American class both...

Bennett/McDaniel had three bantams on champion row....a black rosecomb (champion bantam/reserve of show), a birchen modern game, and an OE. All three were exceptional examples of each breed. Thanks all for the nice comments! It was a nice weekend for the breed!

Laura, Still waiting on your reply to the Urch Thread?!?!?!?!, What makes his buckeyes so awesome? Mrs. Rau had a few of them direct from Mr. Urch and they were called "buckeyes" but didn't really represent the breed very well. She ended up culling everyone of them because she couldn't do...
