I’m so sorry to learn the news of a major contributor to this thread. Memphis. May she have the most glorious of gardens with lappers and turkeys on garden gates.
This thread was so great I think in large part of her wonderful interest and additions. I will miss her. RIP Memphis.
The hydrangeas are loaded with blooms this year. Big and glorious.
I had forgot about this red strain of coneflower or echinacea. It's just bloomed in the last two days and looks fabulous. Lots of young blooms coming as well. Very vibrant.
And just a progress photo of my ornamental grasses...
Thank you so much Memphis. I see weeds in the photos. And I see the grass needs to be mowed. Need to grab a teenage son off the couch. But clouds are rolling in some rain I think soon.
The chickens love our woods. Cover and good foraging for bugs and frogs and worms and such. They graze a...
Here's what was happening in my yard this morning when I let the chickens out. Pearl is hearing Junior Jump down from the Roost here. Pretty alert. She's getting barebacked.

Welcome @silarajc . Glad you are enjoying the thread. Be sure to post some photos of your set up and then the plantings as you get agoing. Let us know how they are working for you and if you see the birds using them for cover or shade. Such a good idea. The blackberries. dont be surprised...
A New Season is Dawning.... Green shoots of grass are being plucked heartily by my flock in the lawn. They are being chickens. Spring is so glorious. I love seeing them out of the coop and the run and on to better things: hunting, foraging, grazing.
Spring is putting a strut in...
Hey Donna: I see alot of open-ness there for sure. I would say some well placed Blackberry bushes. Fast growing Pine trees. Those Hydrangeas I featured on the thread...those are good and beautiful. I like all of what Lazy and Memphis said. You might have to put up some man-made covers...
Welcome DonnaFreak and Peastix. Thank you and don't be shy with photos of your own and advice.
My photos are slow at the moment as I live in the great white north. Arg. Come on spring!
