I like my Dark Cornish. They set enough, but not all the time. Also the roo's are plenty big to eat. Although not at 8 wks. I keep the hens and still have so many eggs that I'm giving away dozens of dozens a summer. Currently looking for new buyers. So not the best layers but they do lay well.

My chickens stay out all year. I don't have a big coop or run. I just leave them in the run during bad weather. I've read on it but haven't got there yet. I'm trying the "no" till gardening with lots of mulch to keep the weeds and grass down. I have a lot of left over tar paper from roofing my...

Welcome New poultry mom. The tomatoes in pots is definetly an easy and great way to start. I work on the road and even bring some in the camper with me. Put them in the tub during travel and set them out when I set up the camper. I haven't been on in awhile it seems not to many have. How is...

To all CANNERS. Could I get a recipe for pickles that does NOT require a pressure cooker. I get way more pickle specific cucumbers than I can eat but not enough to do a large batch before the 1st bunch gets old while waiting to get enough for a decent batch. Thanks in advance.

I've heard donkeys work well. Has anyone had experience with them as guards? I've "heard" many people talk about how they are good for coyotes etc... I've seen pics of a mule attacking a Mt. Lion after stalking the rider his wife and dogs. The mule attacked it after he got off to shot the cat.

Capi nice. I always have okra seeds if any one is in my neighborhood. And I have a bunch (enough they need more clearing) of wild plums. I have the intent of giving most of them to a friends mom who likes to make jellies and jams. I do not can much. Does anybody have a nice easy recipe for...

I love goats/I hate goats. I originally got mine for my horse pasture as well. Kinda like running 2 crops. They don't eat what the horses eat and what the horses don't eat (which is a lot) will get trimmed down enough that they will. So no lose of acreage with additional animals that pd for pd...

I hate goats/I love goats. With hot wire I've had them jump on my truck and play running back and forth from my hood to cab to the trailer I had hooked up and back and forth. Sleeping and pooping on the porch, every day even after being beat off with a broom many times. Running out of the yard...

Another thing to help her and you fell warm is to make sure you have a humidifier. I keep 2 kettles on my stove and when I pulled out the hygrometer out of the incubator and put in the living room It said the house was at 30 not 55.

I don't know about Leaf Curl but I do know chicken poop is the highest in Nitrogen of all poops and it can burn up anything when used heavily. I use a lot of horse manure in the garden and a light casting of chicken poop in my garden. Horse manure carry's a few unwanted seeds but does great...

My perfect place. Probably a sight better than my storage building I used as a house before I bought the place I live now. With less acres:hit

Best of luck to ya. I remember you mentioning that before. It sounds like you've done your research and have two ways to make it work. I think it's always better have two ways to skin a cat. Ecspecially when it comes to a new way to make money.

Those fishing license pay for restocking that. No taxes are going to improve your crops or fruit trees. Unless your big enough to not need it then you get a bail out AND a tax right off.

Doing well right now. Sleeping most of the night. He and the DW are at work with me (atleast in the camper) for another 2 wks before she has to go back home. Hopefully I still have chickens left when I finally get there. The bad thing about working on the road. But I couldn't work a normal job.

Thanks Hicks. I'm sure he will to. If I wasn't going to get another window unit to keep the house cool with an extra door open I wouldn't even go back to the Dr.

2 10's, a 1, and a 2. He had 1 pt to hi on his Jaundice. They wanted to keep him another day and have to go back today for another bloodtest. I came home and walked out in the pasture in the sun with him. Then grilled outside with him in the car seat with partial shade. A lot less yellow at bed...
