    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

:thumbsup I'm not currently at elevation but in one of my cabinet incubators I use a small aquarium air pump the last 10 days. You know how much weight your eggs have lost but have you calculated the percentage of loss?

Adding oxygen is probably a great idea, especially since the breeder flock is raised at much lower elevation. Large hatcheries at elevation use large scale oxygen generators. You can probably use a portable oxygen concentrator. https://www.inogen.com/products/inogen-oxygen-concentrators/...

    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

Penedesenca and Catalanas are separate breeds. I used to raise White Minorcas. They come in white, black and blue - black being the largest and most common variety of Minorca - I loved the whites though. They laid huge white eggs. Catalunia, is more properly known as Catalana but also known as...

    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

I have 32 healthy chicks out of the 40 eggs and another 3 which have pipped that I will try to extract but don't have much hope for. IMO, that is a pretty good result for a breed with an extremely small gene pool.

    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

My whole property is about an acre. But it is long and wedge shaped with the narrow end in front of the house which makes the back of the property much wider. I have 2 coops and another breeder complex with 5 units. I'm dismantling an old grow out coop that turned out not to be completely...

    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

Yes, they run like the wind. It is sometimes difficult to see the rear side sprigs on pullets' combs but they should be obvious on cockerels. By a month of age Pene cockerel combs will be much bigger that the Aorp cockerels'. I would go in the coop at night with a helper and flashlight. Pick...

    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

If you post some pictures I can probably tell them apart for you. The Aorps should have red earlobes and a single comb, the Penedesencas should have white earlobes and a carnation comb. I don't know if Glen selects for white lobes so they may have been lost in his birds.
