Mrs. Fluffy Puffy : It still makes me cry that you are getting rid of your flock! ~Aspen Thanks for your sympathy...It makes me feel terrible that I have to do this, but I don't want the situation to get worse. At least I know who they *might* be going to and she has my 3 Am's brother, so...

My Am's are finally getting their beards back but my Marans is still being a bully to them. They won't be mine for long because I am letting my entire flock go, but they are just so sweet - I will miss this face!! After this pic, she didn't want anything to do with the camera so she turned...

I'm one of those folks with just a couple (or actually, 3) Ameraucanas. I still like posting and checking out this thread often because I learn something new almost every time I read it. Here is a recent pic of one of my Am's. She is turning out quite nicely except for a few missing beard...

Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

My Am's make me laugh everyday. I have a similar situation to Mahonri's so I feel very sorry for what has happened. I live in a suburban area but the Antelope Valley is actually supposed to be more "country-like" (but they have those tracts of cookie-cutter houses, and I live in one). But I am...

One of my white Am's is smaller than the other two (and the three are smaller than everyone else in the coop) but boy, is she smart and FAST when it comes to treats! She may be small but she is quick.

What should I do if my Marans is plucking out my Ams' beards? I have caught her a couple of times tugging at their beards esp. if the beards are wet after they've drank.

I agree with jeremy. I was just about to say that these are breeders who have worked with a lot of stock and have worked very hard to make quality stock. We wouldn't have judges if it weren't for these breeders. With chickens (and with everything in general) my policy is to be open-minded and...

There is a reason one of them is called Dirt But after their first molt they have started to keep themselves pretty clean. It helps that the dirt in their run is very loose so they can dustbathe often. They are molting again. Thanks

Just thought I would share some pics that I took today of my Am's at 17 weeks old. Here is the friendliest of the three, Poofy. It is really hot today so they have been spending all day dustbathing. Also there's my Marans checking out what's going on. Three in a row: The one on the far left...

Quote: If you come back, please take a look at my comparison. I know you said your chicks look like the silvers on the Ameraucana website but these EE's came from a local farm that correctly labeled them as Easter Eggers. They also have chipmunk pattern. For the beginner Ameraucana...

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy : Quote: Yes, Mine are just a few weeks older than yours. In just a couple more short months we'll have some 'purdy blue eggs!! ~ Aspen I really can't wait! Are you still wanting to breed yours to another white line?

Aren't yours just a few weeks older than mine? I don't see any thin saddle feathers on my suspected one yet but they are going through a molt. Its tail looks like the other two's, so all I can do is wait just a little while longer. Its comb is just a tad too wide and is making me worry. I have...

My 3 white Am's are 17 weeks old (yesterday) and none of them are crowing. I still don't think it's safe to say they're all girls but at least two are. I'm getting so close to those blue eggs..

Quote: They haven't started. They are 15 weeks old today. Maybe in a couple more months I'm glad to hear Smoky is still nice and I can't wait to see pictures of him. A couple of my Am's have some small splotchy gray spots like the neck of my Delaware. It's interesting!
