Yep, so far, so good! I’ll spend some time out there again tomorrow to make sure the wrens haven’t figured out how to get thru the curtains. I also put a small, metal, corner feeder near where they like to fly into the run. I’m hoping they build there instead of inside the coop!
Well, I tried. And tried. And tried. But they refused to go thru the plastic strips, no matter how many were pulled out of the way! Then I had a brief moment of brilliance and put up two of the tie dyed nest box curtains and voila!
I’ll try that. I have a feeling it might be a little bit of a challenge to get them to use it the first few days. (My birds are so spoiled!). And yes, but she’s been hard at work today!
I agree. I ordered the doggie door from Amazon. (It’s a flat panel of plastic strips, like you see in the cold storage room at the grocery store.). Should be here tomorrow.
She quit building for a while yesterday, but was back at it this morning.
I did use the permethrin on a nest of ants outside the run, but wouldn’t use it inside or even on the wild birds’ nest... Like I said, I’m an all sand environment, so mites shouldn’t be a huge problem. Ants on the other hand...
I noticed today that there are a pair of mated Carolina wrens building a nest inside the coop. They fly into the run thru the 2” by 4” fencing, then into the coop thru the pop door.
The flock doesn’t seem to mind them now that they’ve gotten over the initial fright of having a small bird...
