Wheaten pullet, soft color, wing and tail edging dark, tail set, low posture
Looks Blue Wheaten to me, darker over all coloring, tail set, and hackle color
Is this the same bird as above? This one looks Wheaten cockerel to me. Darker (black) feathers coming in
Thinking Blue Wheaten pullet...
Thank you MrsBachbach!
That is Sir SIlver and he was purchased from a top Ameraucana breeder who has since taken him back to make more really nice Silver Ameraucana! I have one of his sons who is still young and only one hen. BUT there will be more soon!

Amer -i- cana is a play on Ameraucana. Twisted just enough by the hatcheries to fool people into thinking they are getting the real deal. EE and Americana are the same thing in their minds, because it sells chicks.
There is no such breed as an Americana. And Easter Eggers are not a breed either...
Two things show these are EE's right away. You got them at a Feedstore, and their coloring. No purebred Ameraucana is colored like that as a chick. If you would like to check out the 8 accepted colors and learn more go to www.ameraucana.org
You will still have some beautiful birds and great egg...
You could try here for Blue Wheaten Ameraucana...

They may know where there are Blues available near you. I don't know if they sell hatching eggs or not.
The Silver roo is in with 2 Silver hens from his same breeding and age, he also has a young Speckled Sussex, a coming 3yr old Wyandotte and 2 Blue Ams/EE girls that are a little older than him. I have seen him mount at least one Silver, these girls are so similar it's hard to tell them apart...
I have no other Silver rooster, the other available is a Blue Wheaten. I know he is fertile from all the eggs hatched last year and some from this year.
What makes me think it's somewhat if not all the hens is that NONE of the Silver hens eggs are hatching. I will have to look back in my records...
I tried to post my dilemma on the ameraucana.org forum but it doesn't seem to have published... So I will ask the same here. If the subject is off topic I apologize.
My Silvers are 13 months old, the hens never laid last year. At least one began laying in Feb, and the other not until March...
That I would not dare to say. I am still learning and showing is not a goal. Breeding good birds is though, and THAT will begin in a few weeks. I'm sure there are many many more lessons for me!
Congratulations salt and pepper!
This is the very FIRST time I have seen this happen in over a years time.
I would hate the confirmation that you have an Ameraucana to go uncelebrated!
Congrats!
You must be so excited to get them separated! Your Splash roo with your splash hen will make all Splash, the Splash to Black will make Blue! Just keep learning! Any pure Ams that are "off color" to their type are also considered Easter Eggers. You will learn more on the EE site! If you have no...
I have been doing a lot of reading on the ABC Forum and most recently the History of the Ameraucana posts. It's all better than a good book to me right now! Of course... most of my personal library consists of "How To" or "DIY" type books. The others are Fantasy Fiction... which I indulge in...
