I will have take your word for that because the only thing I know about machining things and machinist is when I was in the navy they saved our asses while at sea on a fairly regular basis.

If you needed that today it probably could be done by a sixth grader with access to a 3D printer

Edited to add, of course with your excellent drawings and specs @aart !
I thought about that too, very carefully and just cut off enough to make a flat spot, that would keep your fingers further from the blade.
You could take a wooden egg, put in a vise and flatten a spot with a belt sander... no risk of finger loss...

I set them lengthwise, against the pitch so they would not move, until a chicken fussed with them and then they would roll out, rinse and repeat. I was putting them back several times a day. I considered hot glue but it all worked out they figured it out.

Fabric with cuts in it, to keep it dark. Sometimes I have seen them pull an egg back in to sit on, thats when I put the fabric there. I have one who still wants to pull an egg in here and there but its not a problem just weird. Bigger area past the back wall, say 9" instead of 6" would likely...
Oh I get it now, its going to be in the run and out of coop entirely. I have about six inches after the back wall into the egg collection area if thats what you were asking? There is a big thread on Roll outs I will see if I can find it.

Your welcome JT
Another thought, the astro turf that is dense, not plasticky stuff would work better if you can find it. Also at the big box stores the commercial indoor outdoor stuff off the rolls, if you went to a carpet store you may find scraps cheep cheep

I have since put a 2x4 in front of the openings (like a roost bar) since they were pooping all over my feed cans. Now the cans are tucked all the way under:)

Sometimes my eggs don't roll out all the way, too late to adjust the box but I am planning to put a few strips of cardboard under the carpet to increase the pitch, when I get to it... They mostly roll out
Gary
Pics as promised, and like I said hard to really see it. Thats one community box about 40" wide accessible from the outside. As you can see the carpet is pretty dense, they never bring in nesting material on their own and they have NEVER pooped in the box. I thought for sure I would be...
When I made mine I just played with the angle until it worked before I screwed it together. Its not that severe but I could not tell you the actual angle. I know I was going to get you pics i forgot, its hard to show well because its all assembled and the only good pic would be from the...
