Thank you so much! I am really pleased that we've done it. We talk about things a lot over here, but sometimes it takes awhile to see any action. But not this time!
My girls were out there all day today, and they experienced rain for the first time. It was cute to watch them. "Bert" found her...
Ok - I've done it!
We've enclosed the area beneath our 14' trampoline for a daytime run for our chickens.
The girls are only 7 weeks old, but they're ready to be outside. Our coop is being delivered sometime next week (hopefully). So we needed to do something to keep them contained safely...
I haven't checked Bunnings, but that sounds pretty good.
I found a pet play yard thing at the pet shop near me, but thats $170 for the tallest one and it's open at the top.
Another idea I had this morning was to enclose the area under our trampoline with hardware cloth (or whatever we call it...
So you guys think I am right to be wary of Magpies?
Geez...they did look intimidating how they all flew in at once and just sat there making noises at us.
I was going to look at options to leave my chicks out in the backyard more often, but now I will not leave them out there unless I am out...
OK, my Aussie friends....I have a question about magpies. (the bird, not the footy team)
We were in our backyard this afternoon, and the chicks were free ranging & loving it. All of a sudden, 4 magpies flew into our yard and perched on the fence posts & trampoline poles surrounding us and the...
That's OK. YOu're just telling it like you see it.
I am new, so I have no comparison for pricing. I knew their chicks were expensive. My chicks were only $3.
Do you know anywhere else we can get DE?
I have found lots of stuff at the City Chicks website, but I haven't ordered anything from there yet.

If this link doesn't take you directly to their DE product, you may have to enter your postcode when you first get to the site. Then go to "feed and...
This is the link to my request for an Aussie forum and the explanation from the moderators.

Re: lice powder, I haven't tried any yet. My girls are only 6 weeks old. I am interested to hear what you guys use.
Also - do you use DE and...
Hi Everyone -
I wrote a message to the moderators asking them to create an Australian sub-forum, but it's not a possibility at this time.
It has been suggested that we Aussies use this thread to keep in touch with one another, ask questions, and share our "aussie" specific ideas.
I've spent a...
I'm new to chickens, but we're loving them so far.
We have four chicks that are about 4 weeks old now.
We live in Melbourne. Nice to see so many Aussies here!
