I wondered the same thing.

I've been using Duolingo but also heavily relying on DH for help - he is half Japanese and spent about half his time there growing up, and spoke the language at home, so he's been quite helpful for some of Duolingo's more... interesting bits.

Working on those right now, but haven't completed them.

おはよう!　鳥　が　すき. I am painfully monolingual but I've learnt some Japanese through traveling and I have a basic understanding of hiragana, which I am working to improve. I found that I was able to get through most of my stay in Japan merely by knowing the words for "thank you" and "tasty." :lol:
