Summer squash I freeze mostly, almost every tomato based sauce or soup I make I put squash in so if it is mush it doesn't matter. I also julliene cut by zuchs and freeze them in baggies for my spaghetti noodles (I am allergic to gluten). I dehydrate them as a sweet snack (coat in powdered...

If you buy your food once a month how do you deal w/ live food (perishables) milk, produce? Bread and meat could be frozen so I didn't include them.

Awesome deals Heather. I wish we could at least supplement w/ wood burning, but w/ two bad asthmatics in the house it's just not going to happen.

Quote: What does it smell like? Fragrant? I think the smell is slightly lemony, but the clothes don't have any scent when they are finished being washed.

I didn't look at the link so if you already have an answer sorry. Gleaning is done in areas that have big farmlands that harvest w/ harvesting machines. They almost always (at least in our area) allow people to come in and harvest after their tractors have been through. You can harvest what...

Oh, I see. I do very little baking our household has weight, blood sugar and gluten issues. If I didn't splurge on the occasional no bake cookies it would definately take more then a year to go through the 5 lbs of sugar. How do you keep ants out in just a plastic bin/tub?

Quote: Hopefully Im not being rude here, I would like to know why rabbits are not ok to eat? I understand about pork but never heard about dietary prohibitions for rabbits. Can you give me more details? Thank you Leviticus 11 (the chapter is devoted to all kinds of dietary restrictions, but...

Just be sure the soup is COMPLETELY cool before putting in the bags or it will steam and fill w/ air increasing likelyhood of freezer burn.

That is how I would do it freezer style ziplocks. I prefer the kind w/ the zipping tab, they cost a little more but so worth it to me.

Quote: This is difficult to answer for you. Add up the payments Medicaid did pay, including co-pays. Now, take a look at what you would have paid without it. Did Medicaid pay over $480 (your monthly payments times 12 months)? Medicaid is there to supplement what the BCBS doesn't pay. I...

Quote: Nothing wrong with not liking the cold. I grew up in a 5 story home in Germany with 2 huge wood burning ovens and 1 wood burning stove for cooking. I miss the dry warm heat at times. Our ovens would heat the water and we had those steel…how would you call it…kind of “tubes” in each...

Quote: I've been experimenting w/ making "ground meat" for sauce dishes out of eggs. I scramble and season the eggs, if I'm making it for spaghetti, italian seasonings and a splash or so of soy sauce, and worstishire. Cook on med-low heat scrambled for longer then you would as eggs you want...

everything womaninthewoods said and I would add, check the sale ads before you make your meal plan, base your meal plan on whats on sale and or in season, be flexible you might find an awsome unadvertised sale or quick out that you can tweak to fit the plan. Make the cleaning products that you...

Never thought of keeping it dry, since I've always used liquid laundry soaps (even before making my own) I may have to try, but not sure what I'd use to mix it I don't have a food processor. I have a blender / mixer combo (oster)

I am GF (glute free) so I use a julliene peeler on mine and freeze it. I use it as pasta in spaghetti dishes.
