Fortunately we are lucky to have a colorful pen as well, producing black, blue, splash, duck wings, BBR and even a few unknown colors..Just a lovely site cruising in the back yard..
A holding pen for birds not in use for breeding?
Thats a personal preference and not someone else's choice as to what and how there gonna pen there birds..
Candy Color is what that boils down to and some like a flock of birds with color and not just a back yard full of a single color or what some call a back yard of crows running around...
I have no experience with the US Araucana Club. But really if you join the club you ought to be able to get info about reputable breeders.
When you say you've only found one breeder who had the colours separated. I don't think I understand. Presumably you don't mean that the other breeders had...

I've never seen any particular difference between feather quality on gold & silver with or without lavender. I'm not saying it hasn't happened...
You may get a better quality feather with the silver leakage than the red on lavender.. also think about carrying other traits along as well with the color, like tufts or rumples

Leakage will be leakage whether on black or lavender. If present it will show on either.
actually I was also thinking about putting a lav pullet in with him and I know the silver translates to straw, so maybe the red is best for that.....
Well it's probably going to be hit & miss. There are recessive eumelanising genes & leakage is less likely to show in females. Pheomelanin is...
I'd think they're all probably much the same in that they've probably lost eumelanising gene(s).
If I had to choose one above the others purely by colour of the leakage I'd probably go for the red because I think I read, years ago, where Clive Carefoot had said that he thought Mh improved green...
