Been a while since I updated!
We're hatching 16 eggs in the incubator (to give away, unfortunately the coop is full)
Pebbles went broody on 5 eggs. Two hatched, but unfortunately one, Hope, passed away, so It's just Joy.
We're planning to do some coop changes, too! I removed one of the...
Just saw this. Probably Cupcake and possibly Nutmeg, and then the others (who are my other family members chickens will be Eclipse, possibly Pebbles, Vanelope, Jasmine, Arietty and Minnie.
I might in the future! I'm planning on showing some of the girls, but the place I'm showing them at only accepts APA breeds. (Safaia is a hatchery hybrid)
Thank you! Sorry I haven't updated recently.
He's so sweet! He's definitely a rooster.
Yep! And they're laying now :)
So far we are keeping him, if he starts acting up though, he might have to go. :hit
She did! She's so pretty.
Thank you! You too!
Also, planning to show some girls this...
Sorry, I’ve been mostly inactive. One of the chickens has been laying these gorgeous dark brown eggs! I’m thinking it’s my sisters Barnevelder, Arietty. Here’s a few photos of the silkies, who are so fluffy, and fully moved in with the big girls! I’m pretty sure eclipse is a cockerel.
The last...
Ugh, haven’t posted in a while. Again.
I was going to yesterday but had a root canal treatment instead (what a fun alternative!)
Here are a few recent photos.
Sorry aven’t updated! Been kind of distracted with some family issues, but I’ll be fine.
Eclipse is starting to grow back some feather, I can try and get a photo tomorrow but I might forget. I think nutmeg did stop the pecking, at least for now.
Safaia has been laying lots of double yolkers...
Sorry I haven’t updated recently. Sorting through some hard stuff.
I found out that Nutmeg was the one pecking Eclipse on the head, so I’m worried Nutmeg is a cockerel. (When I got back from vacation, I saw eclipse had been a bit bullied.
Going to clean out the coop soon. It sounds like Nutmeg is actually primarily buff with a tiny bit of partridge on her feathers! Here are a few photos of her from yesterday! (Well, hopefully she!)
Ummm think safaia just layer her first egg! Not sure if I want to eat it though. She was just standing up in the nesting box when I opened the lid and found this. It’s shell-less and looks like two eggs! Never seen this but I’m sure it’s common in young layers.
The weather is really bad right now. Super hot out (up to 111 f)
Im doing the best I can for the chickens... cool water, mist, electrolytes, ice, frozen treats... today’s the hottest day so I’m pretty worried. A few people on the Washington state thread have already lost chickens. :(
The silkies have been enjoying staying outside during the day.
The weather is really warm... going to get to the 100s! Thank goodness I have AC! I’m worried the chickens will be too warm in this weather... lots of cool water, watermelon, and maybe trips inside, I guess. (Screenshot of forecast)
