I would like to thank you all for your help, knowledge and kindness during this time.
It certainly upset me more than i thought it would. Even now i have a few tears just reading back.
But 'she' is at peace now.
My other duck is doing fine :)
I actually don't think 'she' is fretting or lonely...
She wont touch the mealworms, i put one in her mouth a very gently tried to keep it in there,
she didnt struggle but when i let her beak go she just dropped it out.
She's so weak. I think it's time to say goodbye
I don't know if i am doing the right thing making her fight or not
My Father is here and he says he thinks she isnt going to survive.
(he has bred and raced racing pidgeons for many years)
He said if i wanted to he could end it for her quickly, but only if i wanted to
(he isnt pressuring me)...
She's still with me
She's a battler that's for sure.
I'll take her out soon for a swim with her mate.
Then add an update on her.
You've all been so kind and helpful and i so appreciate it
They're Muscovies ? really ? omgoodness shows how much i know i thought they were Pekin.
How embarressed am i I think maybe them being so fluffy yellow had me thinking that.
Oh well theyre my babies and i love em no matter what they're called
hehehehe
She went down a little today, but i have...
Well so far so good I let her have a swim when i got home.
I put her in the pool and put some grass in for both of them and she had a nibble at it,
she also drank some of the water. She moved around just a little.
She looks a bit better than yesterday, still not great, but a little better is...
yes that is what i figured, is why i separated them, cos they never do that.
ok i have to go out for a good couple of hours, she is perky when i get home
She wont eat, i have put the chick starter/bowl to her mouth and she nibble a little earlier
she wont drink unless i hold the bowl to her beak and gently push her beak into,
i've also noticed she isn't pooing at all
:/
I think a miracle is needed now
ok i shall do that, thank you. I did just read back through the ingredients and noticed niacin isnt in it.
I'll go back through the messages to see if someone has mentioned - but- any suggestions on what niacin i can get ?
I have just noticed something funny (strange, not haha)
The other duck...
I just let them out onto the grass, the other duck is frolicking and eating, and jumped in the pool.
The poorly one isn't doing anything, she looks so sad '
I got up at 4.30am to check on her :)
She still seems 'quiet' but she is still here and that's a good thing.
I was thinking last night, i had them in my house for the first week or so, then enclosed on my veranda
then about a week ish ago i moved them to the small grassed area in the front of...
I let both of them go onto the grass this afternoon for a good hour.
Put their chick starter and watermelon there for them as well as their medicated water.
The poorly duck seems a tiny enthusiastic when the other duck started munching on the food, so joined in
not with as much gusto but eating...
Neither of them are eating anything i have put out other than the chick starter and watermelon.
The poorly one let me hold the food bowl up to her and she had a small nibble, same with the medicated water.
She's bundled on a blankie now so keeping a watch on her.
i have separated them from their pool and given them the Vitamin mixture in a water bowl with...
on the side, chopped celery, spinich mixed with greek yoghurt and chopped cherios.
They are both drinking, but not eating. Mind you they have never really gone for anything
other than the chick...
i'm back. That was harder than i thought :o
All i could get was Soluvet plus.
Oh looking online it seems it may be the right one.
Details at end of message. And i'll put a pic up if i can to show you my babies.
I also got some spinich greek yoghurt and cherioes.
Product Description...
excellent, i have written everything down and now off to get some stuff. I have rearranged my kitchen and will be housing them in there for the time being - lucky i live alone and can live/deal with the mess.
One more question, and it will be ok to put a small 'basin' in the kitchen for the...
i havent left yet. I'm a little confused on what to actually buy.
Vitamins, Electrolytes and Niacin.
Which one's, where can i get them and how much to give them and how ?
To be honest i don't want to go back to the produce place i bought them
as she seemed to have no idea who what when...
