@Jandsloch so you received chicks that were 3 days old and you put them outside? At what temp?

Here people take chicks outside as soon as they are 4-5 weeks. If it's winter may need to wait until they are 2 months, but they grow healthier than the spring chicken.. just an overall observation.

Right, so there is a difference of the 'egg start' week depending on whether they are spring or fall (autumn) chicken?.. Interesting, didn't know that. Mine are autumn chicken, so I am expecting eggs for Easter (even though we don't die eggs).

Oh ok, thank you, I didn't know they should have it from hatch. So mine is just not pure breed, that's ok, she is very sweet and docile, really cold hardy and quiet. At what age did yours start laying eggs?

Thank you. I am posting fresh pictures of my Brahma. As a start I only sow pictures of white Brahmas on the Internet. I was not able to find any pictures of this colouring, it looks like Buff but I am not sure. As you can see, she has a pea comb and even though it is 3-rawed, it is very small...

So it just means it is not a pure breed? I see. I don't mind, I like them. So maybe the vulture hocks will help to find what mix is the chick then?

Why are they undesirable in Brahmas?

It is my first own chick and it is Brahma and I so much like her legs! Don't know how you call the wings on her legs.. well, I call them 'wings on the legs :)'. She is 1 month now.

@Rshumpal I can't see the pictures well (light), but yours look fluffy... or I am not seeing the feathers. Here is mine at 26 days (today), looks like she has more feathers. I am almost sure mine is a she from the sounds she makes.

Is it possible that she is a Cochin, not Brahma?

@Frazzemrat1 can't Brahmas be wing sexed at day 1? I am sure she is a she as she has one long, one short feather on the wings. When is the earliest they can be sexed?

The comb is more flattish, I read Brahmas have a pea comb and her looks exactly like a pea comb, but she is 2 days old now. I am thinking of visiting the farm that gave me the eggs and taking pictures of the parents.

Hello everyone, I just had my very first own chick hatched yesterday. I was given 10 eggs which they told me are some Brahma, maybe mix with something. Out of the 10 only 1 was fertile and it hatched yesterday. I am posting pictures of (I am hoping it is a) her, if there are any Brahma experts...
