Sight Sexing Barred Plymouth Rock Chicks at Hatch

It's hard to see, does that one have a dark pink comb already? If so, that's a male, the pullets won't pink up until much later.

I would say those are all pullets. The first pictured may be questionable. The last one is definitely a pullet as is #2.

I'm betting that's from a Barred male over some other colored female with dark legs. Rocks should have yellow legs. They will often have a dark 'wash' over their legs, but their actual legs should be yellow, and the wash will mostly be on the front sides and down the toes.

If that's from a hatchery and not an SOP breeder, that's probably a male. Give it a couple weeks and the legs will probably yellow up. Give us another whole body picture in a couple weeks and we can tell you for sure.

All the Barred Rocks are pullets, the one with green-black legs is not a Barred Rock. Maybe a Black Australorp?

First 3 are pullets. Need to see wing of the last one, but hesitantly say pullet too.

I'm thinking of getting some from Jeremy Woeppel's line of Plymouth Barred Rocks, how is sexing the heritage/zebra type different?
