There are always rule-breakers, but in general an overall darker chick like that is female. Males look more light gray. Females also have a black wash on the legs & beak.

Thank you! She is such an oddball but I really like her . I researched temperament before purchasing but not sexing, then got worried about the spot on her head!

These 4 are 4 1/2 weeks. I’ve been told they are all cockerels, but they are pretty dark. They are getting a reddish color in the comb area which is concerning. I have no idea, but I need to figure out a roo plan if I have one. It’s driving me nuts.

I would say those are all pullets. The first pictured may be questionable. The last one is definitely a pullet as is #2.

Is anyone knowledgeable still active on this thread? Here are the spots on my 3 sexed BR “pullets”. All 3 have dark legs & light toes like Macaroni.
