I believe she might be a dark brown. She was one of my very first chickens and she was part of a surprise package from MPC. She is an older gal and this is her first time being broody but she is doing a great job with these little ones. It is funny how she was always very flighty and this is how...
It has been forever since I posted here but thought I would post a picture of my brown leghorn and her babies. Two she hatched and the other one she stole from another Momma.
This is Big momma. This is her second clutch this season and she is still caring for them and the 2 chicks are 2 1/2 months old! She has been a great momma and has become so much less flighty since she has brooded and raised chicks. She is so sweet too. My browns were always so much more flighty...

They are very cute!!! My girls are over a year old and only one lets me get near her and pet her and that is my Momma Leghorn. The rest run screaming at the sight of me coming near them! LOL
I thought I would post a pic of my Brown Leghorn girl. She has gone broody twice this season and has been a wonderful mom. Having these chicks has made her much less flighty! Here she is with her 2 chicks.
First night on the roost with the babies!

Very pretty girl!!! My girls flew to roost in a tree everynight and I mean they were high up in there!!! I couldn't get them down! Thank goodness they outgrew that stage and now go in the coop at night.

LOL...One of mine went broody and she likes me a little better since then! I can get within a foot of her now without her running and screaming!!!
Mine did OK last winter and it was pretty cold here but I did run some heat lamps in the coop during some of the worst nights.
I am on broody number 7 right now and she has made me the proudest! I honestly didn't think she would stick with it but she sure did!
Jeremy..........Your chicks are beautiful!!!

I've had three broodies so far, and the White Leghorn was the best yet! A great little Mommy!
I finally got a picture of my broody leghorn. She hatched 2 chicks and you were right, she is a good Momma!!! I finally was able to get her into a crate in the coop a day before they hatched...
I have a 1 year old brown leghorn I found broody tonight!!! I could not find her for 2 1/2 days and finally found her tonight in the upper level of our barn sitting on 18 eggs!!! I did take her back to the coop in the broody area. I am not sure if she will stay with the eggs since I moved her...
I never knew there were so many different types of leghorns!!! They are all gorgeous!
I have 6 whites and 7 browns pullets.
