    ➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I got in touch with the breeder and he thinks it should be somewhere between a silver and an Italian pansy, similar to this one... :love:fl

I tried to get a picture of the other one too, but he’s even squirmier, so that didn't work. I don’t know what it is about the Italians from this breeder, but they're all very opposed to being held except my one big roo.

He’s a bit of a squirmer lol. The feathers are just starting to come in too, so that doesn’t help. Hopefully this is better 😊

Alright... I’m stumped... what colour is this? Hatched from celadon eggs, thought it was white because it was solid yellow, but then it’s pin feathers started coming in dark, and now it looks blue/silver?! One of the others I though was an Italian is also feathering in with this colour on...

So... it would seem my patience stores were exhausted after waiting 12hrs to put the eggs in... I candled 4 days in 😂 I told myself I would just candle a few, just to see if anything was developing.I had convinced myself that after the shipping delay, and the overnight temps, that they would...

    ➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

A relatively large scale breeder in British Columbia that was highly recommended; he doesn’t have a webpage, just word of mouth as lots of his sales are commercial. The eggs were packaged and labelled well, so I have no doubts there, it’s more just the oops timeframe. He filed a claim for the...

I don’t have quail rails, but I have an old GQF turner, with the hole in the bottom of the cup, I’ll have to check it but I think it may work for them. What is a typical hatch rate on shipped quail? These eggs are a week old (they should have been here last friday), so I didn’t know if I was...

She’s in good company; I played safe this time, I really want them to hatch (which means they probably wont, you know, Murphy’s law and all that). Upright makes sense, that’s usually what I do with my shipped eggs. I have a hate on for auto turners this year 😬 I may have to MacGyver something.

A bit too late for that this time, maybe next time 😂

I suppose I should check before I start, how do most of you handle your shipped eggs? I had planned on not turning them for 24hrs, temp 99.5 and humidity 35-45% like usual, but I’m still not sure if I should put them on their side and hand turn, on the rollers, or on end in the turner. The...

    ➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I usually let my shipped eggs (chickens and geese) sit for 12-24, because it’s quite cold here still and I don’t want want them to start to sweat. It does feel quite long, but I’m impatient 😂. Is settling time different with quail eggs?

2 cracked (and fixed with wax), one detached cell, and 23 with wiggly cells, but all 26 are finally here! They were packed in foams, but I set them in cartons to settle and warm. The seller had awesome instructions for the postal service on the box, and the ladies at my post office had them set...

    ➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Question...how long are quail eggs viable, and what temperatures can they sustain? My eggs were shipped Tuesday (Monday was a holiday and I forgot), post office fudged up and they didn’t leave the originating facility until Wednesday afternoon, so they didn’t make it here by Friday 😔. The...

    ➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I’m new to quail, and will be getting a dozen each of silver and celadon eggs sent to me next Monday :celebrate Unfortunately being in Canada I’m not spoilt for choice like everyone in the US able to purchase from places like James Marie and Myshire, but I did luck out and end up living...
