Water came out of her mouth

The poop pics from earlier look pretty bad, but there is the possibility that she just tore a blood vessel passing the obstruction. I'm going to keep hoping 🤞

Water came out of her mouth

If her crop still feels very full I'd empty it and then get some sugar water in her for energy and hope she perks ups and feels like eating a little.

Water came out of her mouth

Can you post a picture? Also does it smell different or worse than usual? Also gently palpitate her belly and vent area to check for lumps or swelling.

Water came out of her mouth

If it's cold there and she seems cold (standing on one leg) I'd bring her inside. Chickens stay warm by digesting food and since she's not eating much she could easily get too cold and become more stressed/sick.

Water came out of her mouth

Yes, I think you are doing all you can. In the future I would try emptying the crop before giving the cream or most of it might come right back out when you massage. The fact that her crop only seems to be able to empty out her mouth and not down into the rest of the digestive track is...

Water came out of her mouth

Good to hear she's feeling okay. In my experience, twice a day is really best for the cream. If you give once a day it fights the infection in the morning, but then can wear off allowing the yeast to come roaring back at night and leaving you right where you started.

Water came out of her mouth

You can see if she wants to drink it on her own, but you'll probably have to use a syringe. I'd try to get most of in her, but stop if her crop seems too full (larger than a tennis ball) or if she's clearly had enough and is stressing out.

Water came out of her mouth

Do give the cream twice a day, morning and night, and empty the crop out as much as you can before hand. Have you seen any brown/solid matter in her poop that would indicate she is digesting some food or is just water and white urates? If no food seems to be getting through a crop flush is...

Water came out of her mouth

Rub up, but gently or it might all come out her mouth again. I don't think you need to try syringe feeding yet--if there is an obstruction it could do more harm than good--but you could wet some pellets/crumbles to make a mash, with a spoon of plain yogurt if you have it, and see if that is...

Water came out of her mouth

Can you get the crop to empty (become smaller) when you massage? The entrance to the rest of the digestive system is toward the top of the crop so you need to massage upward slightly to help empty it. If she's not eating anything at all I'd give her a little sugar water a few times a day to keep...

Water came out of her mouth

I'd give her a massage at least twice a day before giving the cream. If you're home during the day you can check on her midday and give another massage if her crop feels full. Supposedly their crop muscles feel sore when they have sour crop so be gentle and don't over do it, just try to make...

Water came out of her mouth

Good to hear she feels well enough to eat a little and roost. Her poop will look white and watery as long as she is drinking a lot more than she is eating. Let us know how she's doing after a day of antifungal meds and crop massages.

Water came out of her mouth

Apple cider vinegar is good for minor digestive upsets or occasional preventative maintenance, but a truly sour crop is best treated with an antifungal cream. When she had the water come out her mouth did you notice a strong smell or did it just seem like water? Have you seen her poop at all? No...

Water came out of her mouth

The article azygous linked is worth reading through and has good advice. I'd get some miconazole cream and treat as directed in the article. Massage her crop gently upwards in a circular motion to keep things moving a few times a day. Be careful when her crop feels very watery has it can...

Water came out of her mouth

I keep seeing people coming to BYC having read that advice and am not sure why it is the first thing that pops up when googling sour crop or what the idea behind it is. The only time I remove food and water is if I'm not sure a bird's crop is emptying properly and in that case I only remove food...
