They didn't seem to react to the praying mantis at all, they reacted more to me freaking out it was there and trying to get it out of the brooder. Thank you so much to both of you!! I will be going by Tractor Supply this evening and will get them some vitamins, I've never had an issue like...

Ok, so more chicks hatched yesterday but nothing this morning or this evening. I pulled all the remaining eggs to open them. Final results of hatch: 54 eggs set on 8/26/17, 52 made it to lockdown (removed 1 infertile + 1 early quitter). A total of 35 chicks hatched but one passed away. I did...

I have water candled all my quail eggs and I think it works pretty well. You need to make sure there aren't any cracks or pips, or you could drown the chick. The water needs to be around 100 degrees so it's not a shock going from the heated incubator into the water. If the egg floats really high...

Update from this evening after work: there are now 20 chicks in the brooder and 5 more drying in the incubator. One chick passed but the rest seem to be doing ok. 26 more eggs still in the incubator with several zipping/pipping. Almost 50% success so far, not bad for shipped eggs. I will try to...

I know! They are the tiniest little cuties! The second incubator I have going (should hatch 9/16-17) has 15 coturnix quail and 14 button quail. I put the coturnix eggs in a full day ahead of the buttons, I hope I timed it right so they all hatch at the same time. I wanted to see the size...

I came home from work and there were some pips! My humidity is now around 65-69% since I was able to add a second container of water. At 6pm the first chick hatched, and the second hatched at 7:30pm. There is a third who is still zipping (actually started before chick #2) but hasn't popped out...

I got my humidity up to 49%, should I try to get it higher? So far not seeing any pipping action, and no cheeping.

I guess I should join this thread since I am have coturnix quail eggs that should hatch 9/11-9/12, and a second batch of coturnix quail and button quail eggs (different incubator) that should hatch 9/16-17. The incubator I just locked down this morning (a bit late but I ran out of time...
