In response to an ad I placed on CL for chickens - "Since you have a bunch of chickens, would you kill one of mine for me? She's sick and suffering and I don't think I can do it myself." Um. No.

I tried to click on it and it's not there anymore.

Just happened to glance out my window and see my Rhodebar roo (hatched in Feb) do his thing with one of my SBEL hens! Yeah! Now I just need to hatch a girl or two for him!

I'm just avoiding actual work by being on BYC. You're not slow!

Was there ever a determination made on limiting the time for future swaps to 2 months? I remember watching the talk but not hearing a final decision...

I moved all the 10 week olds to the "big girl" coop. Last week. I started rehearsals this week, so I get home at about 11:30 at night. When I get home, I have to go move all the silly teenage chicks from a pile next to the fence near the baby coop to the roosts in the big girl coop. Monday...

What causes deformed chicks? A couple chicks out of my last batch pipped, but when they did no more, and I started to help them, I noticed they were deformed. One was missing an eye, it's head was almost smooched-like. The other one looked like the brain delevoped outside the skull....?

I'll be sure to mention that. At 7, she's a little young for impacted teeth. I have had migraines since I was a kid, so I'm not surprised. It's just tough to watch her in pain and having to be poked and prodded.

Took my littlest one for a follow-up appt for a sinus infection, she was still having headaches. Not a sinus infection. They think she's having migraines. She's only 7, which is two years earlier than normal onset of migraines in kids. We had a bunch of blood tests done to rule out anything...

It always irks me when someone says they've got so-and-so's breeders. In most cases, um, no, you don't. they sold them to you, which means they AREN'T using them as breeders. I know there are exceptions, but it still frosts my cookies.

as long as they're in the ground, the roots should be fine. I've planted newly rooted roses and then had them freeze for weeks. The above ground stuff died, but the roots sent up new shoots.

late frosts don't generally kill the entire plant, just the new growth. So at the worst, you might end up with plants that take a little longer to get going.

Post Office Vent: My eggs from Corancher got routed to the wrong town. this is the second time this has happened. Grrr. It's in the mid 80s today. Hopefully they'll still be viable when they finally get to me on Monday. Grr..
