I'm not sure what you mean by concerned with the adult color. I let me Sumatra's breed as they wish. With whichever Sumatra roo they pic. And there are a lot more than 4 colors if you let this happen. Just because a group of guys years ago said" these are the colors we say are the right...

He's handsome! I'll try to post pics of my alpha roo soon, I usually have more luck with videos outside, since they always are moving lol
love to see them!
Pretty much all of the gamefowl were raised for food in their original country. That is the purpose chickens in most of the world, especially where they don't have much money or don't show them. Just look at the cornish game and the shamo. Sumatras are no different.
They needed chickens that...
They are techinically an ornanmental fowl, but may be used as a dual purpose breed. Just because they are an ornamental breed doesn't mean they don't have meat on them or lay good eggs. Mine are good layers and have nice meaty breasts.
They are considered a dual purpose breed by many who raise...
You could also sell them as breeders and use the money to buy a few table birds.
Sumatras are a fairly uncommon breed and they are also very popular. You could post an add in the for sale section of BYC and see who wants them.

I have noticed that the splash and blue sumatras have the dark green legs totally different from the black sumatras , is this the case on your splash ones?

No mine are all...
They taste just like chicken and dress up fairly well. The blck feathers make the plucking a bit harder, but for the most part they dress up well.
Sorry, but they are considered a dual purpose breed you guys.
My black Dutch Bantam hen could fly like a regular bird!! She would just glide over to the range feeder every morning and beat the other chickens there.
My chickens never fly first thing when they are let out. They go straight for the food. Guess iknow the key to their hearts!!
Love the splash...
My Sumatra hen is also the best broody i've had. I'm never worried about her and her chiocks running around. She has all of the cats scared of her. They know to steer clear of her when she has babies.
She's also an oober mean broody. I hate checking under her for chicks.
Maybe the largefowl are the spazes, cause mine just never stop. My roo squeals when I handle him and my hen pecks me. I love to look at them though and the roo has never attacked me.
They also flip out in the show cages.
I'm to partial to the blacks to switch to a blue roo. I love the green...
