Wow... super exciting. As a California breeder of Buckeye's, this is really cool news. Let us know if we can help in any way. -Brice

Thanks everyone. We normally remove the tray too, it just occurred to me today that I don't always and I wondered if it affected hatching in anyway that I hadn't noticed. I feel like the tray can be a trap too. We typically move them from the turning incubator to the hatching incubator, but...

All, I have a question for you. We've hatched dozens and dozens of chicks over the years, but as I was preparing for lockdown today, I had a question that had never occurred to me before. When you stop turning, do you typically leave your eggs in the turner, or do you take the turner out...

Beka123, I can tell you that diet makes a big difference, as do living arrangements. Any time you change these things, the immediate effect is to cause some anxiety to the bird's system, even if its an improvement. However, it wont be long before you see some improvements, both in their...

To be honest, we have actually had "colder" weather out here lately. About 3 weeks ago, we were hitting the 20's almost every night for 10+ days in a row. That's cold for us...so 36 is a warming trend . We're getting some really nice sunny days, so I'm hoping everyone gets into the swing of...

All, Last week I had a very similar situation with another breed. The person involved used the text from my earlier posting, word for word. They just cut and pasted. In a way I was flattered because they felt it was good enough to use, but on the other hand, I worked very hard to craft an...

They do love those compost piles don't they. I've placed a few in my enclosed runs and within a day or two they go from piles to well-spread ground cover. Ha ha!

Thanks...it was odd to find them there...which is why they caught my eye. I think I might have to ramp up my efforts and do some super sleuthing. Best, Brice

Just to chime in on the feeding, there's a good article here that talks about trying to feed your flock from home-resources: pasture, table scraps, etc. I think its really worth a look. If you've read it already, my apologies. -Brice

They are from feed store lines.. I don't actually know but I am trying to find out. I just happened upon them at the feed store last year and the young man informed me that a breeder had brought the pair in earlier in the day. I've asked him to inquire about lines the next time the man comes...

Well, it's been about two months since I first posted these pictures of my "feed store find" on this buckeye pair. So here is the most recent picture of "Big Red." What do you all think? Thanks, Brice
