I just remembered that silverudds blues are said to have leghorn and/or creme legbar in their foundation so yellow skin might be lurking already? They are supposed to be good egg layers as well as good forager/free rangers

Im not sure weather they have late or willow legs, if they have slate it would only take a couple generations to get back to yellow. I have not weighed him yet but he is currently heavier than his father and he was hatched the week of christmas

I now have Silverudd's blues (aka blue isbars). I think they would be an ok option for adding blue eggs into the aloha gene pool. What do you all think? If that would be a viable option I might be looking for some alohas once my silverudd's blue flock is increased

I wonder if the aloha color would be called spangled. Like spangled orloffs?

Naked neck is dominant (it only takes one copy to show) heterozygous are the ones with only one copy some people refer to these as the bowtie Naked necks because at the bottom of their necks they have feathers that look like a bowtie , with two copies (homozygous) their necks are more naked

my silver penciled rocks have single combs and yellow legs, their feather color (silver penciled) is just silver partridge with the pattern gene, I have actually found it to be hard to keep the pattern gene when cross breeding ( I recently started a buff laced white ameraucana project) breeding...

What does the spotted rooster you mentioned look like?

    The Aloha Chicken Project

my thought process on the rocks was that I already have them and by adding in a couple aloha hens I would still get some of the pure rocks, I don't really like the body shape of the olandsk dwarfs, may I ask what kind of problems I would see down the road usoing my rock rooster with some alohas?

    The Aloha Chicken Project

When I said the Russian orloffs I was think more about color than body shape, I have a bantam silver penciled rock roo if I bred some of the smaller alohas ( that is if I get any) with him the body type would work while keeping then small right? But the color wouldn't mesh?

    The Aloha Chicken Project

    The Aloha Chicken Project

If the rooster is barred all chicks will carry one gene for barring and will all be hen barred (darker barring than a rooster who has two genes for barring) so they won't be sex linked
  19. cgmaster

    The Aloha Chicken Project

BTW its possible to have a male calico cat but he would be a mutant basically because he would have an extra sex gene and he would be infertile (it really rare though)

    The Aloha Chicken Project

actuall if the hen is the one that has barring only the roosters from this cross will be barred. unless it isn't sexlinked barring but if it is the hens can only carry one copy and this one copy would only go to the roosters whereas if the rooster was pure for barred all the chicks would have...
