BLUE ISBARS - Pictures and discussion

Those are some very pretty eggs! I love the shade. So sorry about the little black chick... I have noticed that mine hatch late, too. Anybody hatching should *definitely* leave the incubator running for additional days (I've had them go three days late in my Dickey cabinet)! Patience...

Very cool egg color! I had a Wellie in my Isbar pen, so I stuck a few of her eggs in the incubator... we'll see what happens.

Mine are laying like crazy right now, too. One more fertility check batch in the incubator right now, and then I'll be open for egg shipments.

I'm so sorry to hear about the low chick viability numbers! I haven't had that issue - yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's not a problem... I just stuffed the incubator full of Isbar and Blue Marans eggs last week, so I'll have a test run very soon. Rinda, do you have a backup roo? I...

I'm still getting good egg production, and have a dozen ready to roll if desired. I have two gorgeous blue roos over splash, blue and a lone black hen. (I've yet to ever hatch a black myself.)

If it makes you feel any better, I've had worse hatches with more expensive eggs and without any incubator issues... I'm glad at least one hatched! Now we'll keep our fingers crossed that it's a pullet.

Yep, that was a Marans. A few of my girls lay that super neat reddish brown shade, and it is so pretty... it always make a great contrast with some of the other colors. It looks darker in person; I think the flash lightened it.

I'm pretty sure they are both blue... I haven't messed with them much as they were so brand new. I do have more hatching next week, so we'll see what that brings!

Thanks for the nice comments about JR... I'm happy to report that he has now found his special purpose, and I am FINALLY getting fertile eggs! I'm looking forward to setting some eggs tonight and seeing what develops.

I had to take some pictures of some other chickens, so I grabbed a few Isbar pics, too! Here's JR, who is still quite young and hasn't figured out his "job" quite yet. He is exceptionally nice to his ladies... And I thought this was cute - just a big ol' bunch of juvie Isbars snuggling in...
