Morning all. Today we are moving the duck goose house out into the garden so they can get back to work on weeding and bug eating. It's the only reason I have the mucky mucks. Then we plan to get the other half of the garden seeded. Plants are almost all in. We are really late on planting...

I've cobrooded hens with eggs before. As long as their eggs are set too hatch at the same time you should be fine. I had a dark Cornish and a buff Minorca brood in separate nest boxes, then coparent the chicks together. They were adorable together and I'll tell you none of the other hens...

CPL I'm glad to see you back! Hope you're feeling a bit better. I know when my friend Melody was on an upswing as she called it she was chatty as heck. I was always so happy to get my ear talked off. I must say I'm so happy that you all have offered some very wonderful breeds. I know if it...

ME TOO! My hubby is the one that decided this was where she HAD to go for training. He's paying, so I'm going along for now, but if I see problems arising ill attach my one horse trailer to my car and bring her spoilt rotten butt on home. I would have much rather of sent her to someone I...

Mine is to go get my baby girl, but maybe I'm part of the problem! She's supposed to be really good, and has trained for a very long time. I'm not able to do it myself physically or I would and hubby skips over many steps because he thinks they aren't important, so maybe Bonnie is just...

That's normal behavior for flock position. As long as they don't draw serious blood I would let them work it out. If serious blood the remove the aggressor. Even penned all girls will fight pretty rough sometimes. Yeah me either! Having a bad day is not on my list, so no PMS please.

Broke my reading glasses last night. They are just magnifying glasses, not perscription, so easy enough to ge a new pair, but what a PITA! Need to get most of the remainder of the gardens planted today. Move some more broody turkeys and I'm waiting for my last to poults to get themselves...

We love our NNs! Most people think there is something wrong with them and that they aren't cold hardy. Once we explain to them that's normal and they see them out in the middle of a blizzard (yes, ours go out no matter the weather. All our birds do.) then they want some. We got two of the...

I think you're right. I don't think I would give chicken to duck or goose. We call them yucky duckies and loosey goosies here. Have no issues going the other way though.

So I've been working in the gardens trying to get as much planted as possible and all the while the older juveniles were running around with the adults. The next younger are still in the coop as I haven't set them up a play area with shelter and its kind of chilly today. So they are whistling...

Yup broodys can get a little feisty! I just moved a broody momma turkey and found out she had 6 eggs under her and not 5 like I thought. Six little stinkers popped out when I picked up momma. Of course momma is still complaining, but she needs a bigger pace with her poults and I need the...

Good morning! I'm feeling much better today! Now I'm only like a bazillions of things behind. Hubbies coming home today, so hopefully I can get his help with some of it. We need to make room for the first batch of cornishX and freedom rangers that come in next week. All are already spoken...

Yup label is wrong. At first I though maybe I'm getting old and senile, but others have confirmed. Blast! I was planning on giving the Pekings to my older son to eat. Once they grew up of course. He and his roommates love duck.

Ok here's a pic of an egg with a dead in shell duckling. So should I say something? I traded to specifically get Peking and the rouens were tossed in as extras. Looks like they are all rouens to me. I had 4 hatch, but only two were labeled correctly.

One is from our khaki Campbell's, one is one is Rouen, or so labeled, and the other was labeled Peking. Two look like this. Man I'm not feeling well.

MINE! It'll be awhile before he's breed able but better a wait than never. I keep forgetting to take my iPad down by the hickeys and horses to get photos, and today it's not going to happen. Pain is at an off the freaking charts right now. The juveniles were at the back door calling for...
