I was just curious if this is happening in other parts of the country. I expect blood streaks on pullet eggs, especially the first couple or even an extra larger one on older ones. It occurs now and then. But I've been noticing this on a steady basis this year. Very odd.
Congratulations, HHF. You will have to tell the rest of us your first hand experiences with them. I'm sure there are others that are interested in them too.
Something I have noticed this year has been a lot of eggs having blood smears and streaks on them. Some one else told me the same thing...
I have been trying out a few breeds of bantams that appeal to me. While I'd like to have something presentable for resale of hatching eggs and possible breeding stock to help someone else along the way, utility and temperament are number one for me. Bantam breeds I truly thought would be great...
Thank you both for your contribution and support.
I have an old SOP, but the description for the Silkie reads: "BREAST: Carried torward, very full, well rounded and of great depth and width." If no one told you, you might be thinking Orpington or Wyandotte was being described. The...
I'll probably be tarred and feathered for saying this, but one breed I think could be an outstanding utility chicken is the Silkie. They have been made into fru-fru chickens that can barely see to take care of themselves and some are pampered worse than a royal poodle. The SOP calls for a...
I have mostly bantams and enjoy them very much. I got into bantams for several reasons. I'm an older woman and don't want to wrestle with a bigger bird. I also live alone and like to cook a bird that fits in my crockpot, and appreciate a bird that lays a large egg for its size. Bantams are...
I would love to hear more about the White Faced Black Spanish bantams. I saw them in LF for the first time at a swap earlier this year. They are very impressive. Photos don't do them justice.
Bob, stunningly beautiful buff Brahma bantam roo.
I'm so pleased to see a thread for bantams. I think they are far underrated.
One breed I didn't see (maybe I missed it) is the Cornish bantams. Here's a pix of a couple of my girls.
