Butchering day... Just need a bit of support. I have done it more than a few times but it doesn't seem to get easier. The hardest to do are my own birds vs ones others have raised.
-sigh-
I'm looking forward to great soup and a calmer coop though.
This is with an axe, gives you a good idea of what to expect... Laying the log or block down the way this fellow does proved a useful tip.
That said I think I'd like killing cones for this years ducks (and chickens)
I'm shocked at how fast my boys are growing, I may have to process them before they get to see grass :(
They are just starting to crow. About 4 months old.
Yup it should never be easy, but easier. Not emotionally so much but physically for us and the bird, ease of slaughter in the most humane way in your opinion will make you feel better about choosing to take that life for your table, or if not for your table, occasionally we have to take a birds...
Radom story
My MIL works with an awesome Jamaican lady, Who raised pigs back in Jamaica... Her pigs were spoiled they even would come into the house and have dinner with them at the table... They were very close to their pigs they were pets until they were dinner... I haven't seen the pictures...
