yeap! the silkie gene is recessive :)

ive had orpington silkie crosses, and had a few dark skinned offspring. but most of the time ive had a light blue skinned bird so you never know. it's best just to wait and see.

I would say prolly the cochin. when I crossed my polish with my silkie it had a huge vaulted skull!!

I just breed for fun, but I always just breed back to my best silkies. when doing that your offspring will come out 50% silkied 50% smooth.

Their mom is a silkie Wyandotte? Mix and I mixed her back to a silkie and got them!

Since I am posting I guess I will post some picks of my silkie mixes. They are 75% silkie:)

No it's fine I'm still learning to! I know how you feel, only one of my hens is laying right know :/ and one is brooding. And that would be awesome if they laid blue eggs or green!
