Because of this thread and learning about zeolite, I tried brooding my ducklings on it. Wow, has it been great!

We made ours 22" with the roost 8" off the board. It seems to be working very well so far. No poops where they don't belong and the roost is high enough to clean the PDZ easily.

Thanks. DH built it yesterday using materials we had in the barn. He just creatively threw it together. The center partition board slides out when we don't need it separated. I can take some better detailed pictures of it if you want. It has been put to good use already. Mama hen with 10 day...

Thanks :) There was quite a bit of commotion in the coop tonight with the new setup. I guess they have to work out where they will each sleep again.

We are almost done with the coop modification. Adding poop boards with PDZ is going to make it so much nicer to clean. The chickens and ducks are going to have more room and will be able to get away from each other better when they want to. We just have the ramps to add tonight.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I wonder if it would work if we could clean each day. I have kids who help with the flock chores. The shavings cost us an arm and a leg having to add so much to keep it from being a stinky slimy ice rink.

Has anyone used PDZ on the floor with ducks in freezing temps? Deep litter method with ducks was just a frozen stinky mess. I'm looking for a better plan for the next winter... any ideas?
