No. He's not a sexlink of any sort. Just a mixed breed.

One of the dark red sisters has a pea comb. The only pea comb breed you have is the Dark Cornish, so that would be the mom for that chick. The other dark red sister looks like she has white earlobes. That indicates that one parent was likely a white egg layer. She is likely from your Silver...

Read the whole first post. Some color groups work better to produce clearly sexable chicks at hatch.

A few different genes going on for leg color. First are the skin color genes, white and yellow. Not sexlinked, all offspring will inherit a white skin gene from dad and a yellow skin gene from mom. White is dominant over yellow, so all will express with white skin. The slate wash that produces...

Correct, except that the BCM isn't EE, he's Birchen ER.

Barred Rock is pure for extended black, so no matter what the genes the rooster has, all chicks will have that black down for the white head spot to show against. The Legbar is not based on solid black genetics. If the leakage was indicative of other possible pattern genes, it would mean that...

Looks like typical leakage that plagues many breeders of BBS. It only expresses in males, but hens can carry the gene and pass it to offspring, making it very difficult to remove completely. Should not be an issue for sexlink breeding, but if you ever plan to breed Orpingtons it will be a problem.

The leakage won't be an issue with the extended black genes of the Chocolate Cuckoo Orpington, Cuckoo Marans, and the Barred Rock. Will definitely have an impact with the Legbar and the Olive Egger. But the basic rules for barring will still apply. It's just that immediate sexing may not be...

All the roosters will work for Black sexlinks. For those, you just need a barred/cuckoo hen and a non-barred, non-solid white rooster. Your Gold Laced Orpington is the only rooster that can be used for red sexlinks, when paired with your Light Brahma hen only.

    Sex- linked Information

Wheaten down isn't really clearly gold or clearly silver. As the chick begins to feather in, the chicks that are silver based (male), will have black and white patterning on their wings. The females will have gold and black coloring on their wings. If the silver cuckoo is a birchen or extended...

This hen is silver wild-type partridge and barred/cuckoo. Red sexlinks from the previously pictured hen. If bred to a black or birchen rooster, she could also produce black sexlinks.

    Sex- linked Information

Wheaten is not a good choice for sexing at hatch. If you don't mind not being able to sex till the chicks are a week or two of age, then you can use them with just about any silver-base bird.

Nope. No other genes are at work. It's the Lavender gene that dilutes the gold/red to shades of cream. That's also why it can be difficult to see leakage in Lavender/self blue roosters.

Your Polish might be recessive white, or it might be carrying a gene for Blue. Solid white birds are not actually white. They are genetically extended black, with either dominant or recessive white modifying the black pigment. Extended black is the most dominant pattern gene. The Welsummer...

Actually, the Lavender gene does not just affect black pigment. It also dilutes red/gold base color. Just look at Isabella Leghorns. They are Brown Leghorns with the Lavender gene.

Buttercups aren't barred/cuckoo, so no, you can not use for sexlinks.

    Sex- linked Information

How old was your rooster before he got his 'copper'? Some chicks feather in right away with their 'leakage', others can take over 10 weeks for it to come in.

    Sex- linked Information

Think about what color Black Copper Marans are at hatch. They are black. You can't see silver or gold base color on a chick with black down. It's not until they are feathered in that you can see the color in the neck feathers.

    Sex- linked Information

BCM work for black sexlinks, but due to the dominant nature of the birchen pattern, they are a poor choice for red sexlinks.
