The only difference was one was a runt, the other was one of the two with a light stripe on it's back and a gold color on it's head (maybe a roo) but no real difference
I went out to check on the chicks this morning and two of them were dead, the hens seem like they are protective and good mothers but I'm wondering if I should go ahead and remove them or just see how it goes, this is the first time I've had chicks hatch and the first time the hens have hatched any.
Its actually two mamas and it looks like they are sharing the babies pretty well, do I need to give them medicated feed since they are with the mamas or just regular starter?

Heres the pic I got, not very good but luckily both colors are able to be seen, the one on the right under mama is the one of the two with a light gray stripe on it's back and the goldish color on...
I know some people have said that you can tell by an eye stripe on the chicks but I'm not sure which color their supposed to be but these have no stripes just the different color on two of them, I'll have to try and post a pic later
Just had six old english game bantams hatch today, four of them are bluish in color all over, the other two have a little gold on their heads, does that mean the two with color on their head are roosters and the others hens?

Does this trio look good, any serious faults? I was waiting for the guy to put these up for sale and he finally has. Not planning on showing just want to get an idea on any faults, they are less than a year old.
Congrats on the new chicks, I haven't found very many oegb's around here, just the guy I got my splash from and he didn't have any self blues, but he does have some nice looking blues I am thinking about if I only had somewhere to put them.
What do you have to breed to get self blue, I've seen these and think they are very nice looking bird but have no idea what colors could have been used to get them.
Ok, the guy wasnt sure which it was so I thought I would ask, I am looking for a couple of black hens to put in with my splash. Do you know if they will try to hatch any chicks this time of year?

Is this an oegb or a japanese bantam, I can't tell the difference by pic and the guy that had it isn't sure, sorry it's sideways
Quote:
No. Ko shamo are a true bantam, they don't have a large counterpart, and they are quite different in type than shamos.
Oh, ok thanks. I had thought about crossing a ko or bantam shamo with an oegb just to see what the off spring would look like, just be something different in the yard...
