An East Indies duck took Champion of the whole show at Tucson in Nov. There were tons of bantam ducks of all kinds but the only large ducks I saw were a few Muscovy and I think all from one person. I was going to try and have a few Welsh to show there next year but have lost my older breeding...

I think the one in the center is your boy and the other two are girls but they are in that funny teen age stage where it's a bit hard to tell as they change colors all over, but usually the boys have the most and darkest color all over

the first one with dark head and butt is probably a boy and the second one with less color is probably a girl.

I have been forgetting to mark them at hatch but the ones with real dark heads turn out to be boys; some of mine had mixed color bills too, but I didn't mark them so don't know which way they went. When they lose their down and get real feathers it's easier to tell.

well the Welsh really are a dual purpose bird, especially if you do not mind a smaller carcass. The babies grow really fast, I can put two month olds in with my grown chickens because they are big enough. Can't put them with babies because they are too big and run over everyone. when they get...

Well my little duck was trying to sit on about 20 eggs, so I took the extras and put them in the bator. She hatched 9 and the bator hatched 2 (it was off one day and the temp dropped to 76 so I'm surprised any made it) I slipped the two from the bator in with her this afternoon after they dried...

I have hatched about 3 dozen so far and of those three ducklings the only I'd say for sure was a WH is the one on the right. The other two look just like my scovy babies.

Thank you, then I probably have one boy and two girls. Fingers crossed. I really only want one more girl so will sell the others later when I'm more positive of their gender.

I know it's probably here in the thread somewhere but I don't have time to look right now. I know there is a way to guess sex on ducklings according to bill color. I have three ducklings, one with a very pink bill, one with a pink bill that had a dark stripe down the middle which is fading and...

It's been pretty cool here and close to freezing most mornings I collected these; I think the 'bator was running too warm a few days tho and/or my cheapie thermometer was off. Have a new digi combo unit coming from poultry supply

This morning one is out, one unzipping, more pipped. Will do pics as soon as they are done and dried off. Wondering if I was wrong on # of days; should be 28, right?

Oh boy!I have 7 WH eggs in the bator, due on Sat. But the little buggers are pipping! The only thing I can think of is that a few days last week the little styrobator was running at about 101 and one day 102. Have them in my big new to me redwood now. I was filling up the water pans and getting...

Fingers crossed that in spite of some wild temp flucuations the past few days my 7 WH eggs are still alive.... This is my first time hatching ducks; they are due the 16th.
