Two green eggs this morning, a brown yesterday. This must mean that 3 of the 4 started laying. 7 month old hens, just started developing combs and wattles in the past 4 weeks - none of them have ever squatted, no eggs songs. Can't wait till they all start to lay.
Two of 4 aussies are now laying at almost 7 months old. We got a brown egg today, all of hte others were green - apparently they will change shade, but not hue! Woohoo, 2 down, 2 to go!
I'd love to see photos of all of the egg colors that people are getting. Mine went from blue/green to olive green. 1 hes has been laying for 2 weeks, every other day. The other three are still freeloaders!

Yeah that's awesome! Ar you waiting for others? We got our 1st egg of 4 chickens two weeks ago, but have only gotten 6 eggs total since then. This is a very slow process!

Woo hoo! So happy that you got an egg! I'm only getting 1 egg a day (out of 4 hens) and that's just every other day. They also refuse to lay in their nesting box and instead lay in the deep litter! Sooooo yuck!

I have a friend in Dallas whose bantams didn't lay their first egg until 8 months! She told me that it's normal to not get eggs until the 7th or 8th months. She seems pretty reliable - her hens always win at the fairs:)
Also, I've heard no to give oyster shell until they start...
Isn't that funny. I hear that BA's are great layers, but I've not experienced that yet. Maybe good things are headed our way. A friend of mine says that it takes them longer to get going because they are dual purpose, but once they do, that they really produce. We'll see!
We finally got our first egg. The woman that we bought our chicks from said that they were born in April, but compared to other hens their size (body, combs and wattles) they only look to be about 5 months old.
We got one small egg (the size of a med. in the store) that is a beautiful bluish...
I think that we are all going to get eggs any day! Just, maybe not today. All of our chickens look to be at the same stage in development. I'm so happy that someone got an egg, it gives me hope. Mine were born in the middle of April, and I'm beginning to think that they are all going to turn...
Well, I hope that we don't have to wait until spring to get eggs! I checked today and nada:( But their combs and wattles are getting a little bigger and redder. Hopefully, something soon!
