Ireland is a bit shell shocked and things are still a bit crazy here, but we're staying positive. It's all we can do, really. The next storm is a big concern, especially for the places left vulnerable after Monday's storm, but all we can do is take things day-by-day.
@ronott1 I hope that rain...
Goodness, we really cannot complain too much!
I went over to Clonmel this afternoon. Things are looking o.k... Lots of downed trees and branches along the road, saw one tree lying on a power line and another line down still. I hear Lidl's roof blew off. In general I think our county faired...
We are exhausted, but grateful for the returned power :) It was a long 24 hours waiting on that and wondering how long it's going to take! We went for lunch in a nearby town and spoke to a man there that told me they lost power at 10:00am yesterday already (we went off at 06:00pm), so I guess we...
We're still off and hoping to be back on sometime tomorrow… Thank goodness for the laptop! But my battery is small. I'll check in again in the morning. :frow
We started windy, followed by crazy wind around noon to 01:00pm, which calmed down after awhile and it's been quieter since. I spoke to some locals who said we're to expect more crazy wind around 06:00pm and later…
I'm in eastern Tipperary and it's still quiet, but I hear we may be in for more strong wind this evening...
DS and I went out for a quick look around and everything seems fine out there. Some branches down. No serious damage. But we didn't go far.
@Amanita I was wondering how Sligo is doing...
It's been much calmer here for the last hour or so. I'm starting to think we're over the worst of it. Outside is a mess with leaves and rubbish, but no damage that I can see.
@ChickenGrass how are you doing?
I went out to the chickens quick and the wind took a branch off the tree in the neighbor's yard. Just a few yards from me. That gave me a fright!
Very windy and wet here, but otherwise o.k.
Same here. I can see the wind blowing the rain around. Some brave souls are out on the streets still, going to the supermarket, but most are indoors now.
It's an uncomfortable feeling, sitting here listening to the wind and reading the warnings online and waiting and worrying. Not really knowing what's going to happen in the next few hours… Not really knowing what to do either, but wait. It feels a bit surreal!
Thankfully the village I'm in is on an elevated, hilly area, so there is not much risk of flooding, but this wind is scary. I've secured everything outside as best I could. The hens are in the shed, which is a proper brick and concrete building (safe and secure). All we can do now is wait it...
We still have power here too, thank goodness. I got my laptop and phone charged up just in case any way. There are no trees that can fall and cause trouble around my house or nearby. I'm so glad for that today!
The wind is picking up here now. The hens decided the shed is more comfortable than outside, which is quite sensible of them! Can't say the same for DS (11). He's outside playing.
