Sounds like Sambat has a better cross with the barred rock. I might try a white cornish male over a barred hen.
Most attacks with mine are night varmits.
I bought some cornish X w rock. And I have pure bred dc
and white cornish, l like the pure white cornish better than the others. But I'm going to cross the white c
with the dark c and see how they do.
Thanks JR
I hope to have about four really good pullets and about six more that are pretty nice for next spring. Some show a little red or yellow leakage, but they'll taste just as good
Yes I have plenty of room for a lot of chickens. I can free range also. But I do work full time and have to travel some with my job. So there is no endless supply of time or money. My Wife and Son help alot. Fortunately I live in an area of Alabama where there's always someone buying chickens if...
I want to compare the hatchery type to sq. If the sq grow as well I see no need to keep the hatchery birds, but they were a gift so I'll raise a few. I know already that my Whites are growing much better than the Dark sq. I will raise all the Whites that I can and play around with the Dark.
Hi CanadianBuckeye,I like the looks of the hatchery hen better than the cock.I want to raise a few to see how the offspring compares to the SQ. I will still try to breed SQ to SOP and maybe cross some for meat. But I will be focusing more on the White Cornish.
I have a pair from show quality and a pair of hatchery type. I hav'nt raised any of the hatchery type yet. I just got them but I'm eager to have some to compare. Both pair are Darks.
Has anyone compared the growth rate of lf white cornish to the type crosses you're experimententing with? I have lf white and dark cornish. My whites are out growing the darks and my crosses.
